I agree on having more gear ratios available, but keep in mind that there are federal mandated gas millage standards and every 1/10 a mpg make a difference of the find that Ford pays. So if they sell the cars with 3.31 they will pay less of a fine and then make some more money on after market parts. I dont think that the gear prices are realy up that much on the 08 but the minumin MPG standards are going up and then the fine is increased....then this is passed back to the consumer.
3.73 or 4.10 offered from ford would cost them even more fines on those cars. They have to balance emissions and mpg standards. So they are tuned to balance these and they left a lot of room for us to be able to tune these cars for more HP. 10 - 15 hp just by tuning the car.

Shows you how good the V-6 cars are for the 05 and up models..... now put in a better gear and the v-6 really do wake up.

You are correct! That is, for the Mustang GT.

My 3.55 gears were included with the car. Now for 2008 I'd have to drop $300 to get the same gear set. ???!??!

Yes I understand Ford has to deal with the CAFE restrictions on mileage but I would rather pay $$$ up front and get factory 4:10 gears rather than have some moron install a whiney set down the road for $1000.

I am putting in Ford Racing 4:10s next Friday. Gears, install, and sales tax came out to $400.
