My ring and pinion exploded this morning
As the title states, I was driving to work, cruising along at a steady speed on the highway - then BANG! Clunk, clunk, clunk....
Pulled off, got towed to a buddy's shop...the pinion gear is missing chunks, took out the ring, put a hole in the carrier... and... the lock bolt was twisted into a million pieces. Sweet.
So, obviously I need a new diff and r&p - so 3.73's it is, but what to do about the diff?
I take the car to the track a fair bit, so I'm wondering if I should spend the extra $300 and get the torsen vs the trak-lok.
I realize that would be a sweet upgrade, but this ordeal is going to cost me a solid $1,000. Not something I needed right now.
