muffler gt 2010 convertible

hello everyone,

I am the hapy owner of a gt convertible 2010 in Europe (Swotzerland)
the car is fully stock at the moment and I woulfd like to change the muffler of the car by a ford racing part:

M 5230 sa ( SHLEBY) or M 5230 MGTC (Bullit), which one will sound better for a convertible ?

Where can I find them, maybe someone form the forum have one to sell ?

Tks !

I think the Bullitt mufflers sound a little better to my ears than the Shelby GT ones, but I doubt there is a huge difference . . . there are so many options, it is very hard to make a recommendation without more information about what you like . . . are you concerned that it might be too loud in the convertible? How loud do you want it?

Yes I do have a 2010 GT but it is a coupe not convertible, that's why I didn't mention it before . . . Steeda is a good guess based on my signature, but no . . .

I have FRPP (Ford Racing Performance Products) FR-500S also known as "KR" mufflers -- these are the mufflers that were used on the FR500S race car and also the Shelby GT500 KR, I'm pretty sure. I think they are also called M-5230-SA; the A distinguishes them from the 2005-2009 mufflers; because the 2010 needs slightly longer tips due to the new rear lower valance.

For me they are just about right, maybe a little on the loud side. While cruising around you can hear them but they are not intrusive. The have a nice deep rumble at idle, and ZERO drone on the highway. At heavy throttle and/or high RPM they get fairly loud, like a race car should. I get compliments at the road track all the time, that my car is one of the best sounding on the track.

If you are concerned about the convertible, I think they might be a bit too loud.

Hi Jbert,

Tks for your reply, very difficult to find the right exaust without listen to it or only listen it on you tube
Leaving in Europe is not so easy to find others mustang to ear exhasut system in live....

I just found the muffler 5230 SA same as your but as you told me I ama little afraid will be to loud for a convertible

Trying to find the M 5230 MGTC ( bulliit exhaust will fit the 2010) but at the moment did not found one available

Do you kow if the 5230 GTB (2005/2009 will be adapetable for the 2010 version ?)

Did you hear the Bullit exhaust on the 2010 GT, is not to quite ? I mean do not sound same as stock exhaust ?

Tks,

Tks,
I am thinking the Bullitt exhaust won't fit right. The 2010's are hard to find parts and especially aftermarket parts for as they are a 1 year production and a combo of the 2005-2009 and 2011-2012 Mustangs with the 2005-2009 powertrain, but with the 2011-2012 body.

I know the aftermarket sites all have the 2010 in an area for itself.

I have owned both platforms. The FR500S is great on the 4.6. It is loud when you want it, but quiet when you are just cruising. I didn't have a convertible so not sure how much it would change, but I will say I rode with my windows down a lot and no complaints. I will say I did the muffler delete on a 4.6 and it sounds great to me, but passengers always said it was loud...

Very difficult in fact to find a good exhaust for the 2010 right now

No one in the forum have a 5230 SA to sell ?

Maybe someone install a 5230 s (2005-2009) on the 2010 and can confirm it’s works

I read somewhere is possible to fit them on the 2010…..

Couple Borla sound clips on a 2010 Mustang, I have them on my 2014 and there is no drone at all

the earlier mufflers will "fit" on a 2010, meaning the hangers, clamps, and piping are the same . . . BUT,

the tips should be a little longer on the 2010 than the earlier years, because of the new rear lower valance (affectionately known as the "diaper" in some circles) . . . not sure if the shorter tips from an earlier muffler might melt the plastic, or not

the 2011+ mufflers will NOT work, the clamps are different

I would be worried about the same with the Bullitt. Corsa makes great exhaust. I haven't ever had one as they are a little pricey. If I were going to spend the money I would get Borla. Magnaflow makes a good sounding exhaust for a good price as well as flow master, but you may get a little more drone with flows...
