Rear Axle Question 2007 Mustang GT

I was wondering if the was any real benefit to switching to the 31 spline axle while only having basic bolt on mods? I'm getting ready to do a gear swap, 3.55 to 3.73 and figured if there was any real benefit then I might as well do it while we're back there. I have been told that since I have the heavy 20" Foose nitrous rims that I will benefit from the gear swap and aluminum DS, just wondering about the axle now.

Don't bother, the axles are fine. There are many people putting alot of power to the stock ones.

Shouldn't be any proplem at all, have a 2008 Bullitt with 373 gears, plus an cold air intake, 5 speed, rpm was kicked up to 6800 rpm. Also the exhaust was tuned to the orginal movie car, only thing i'd ever change on this car is the shifter, to remain true to 1968 it has a long throw shifterin it, got some gettin use too, no problems with it now. Hve fun with the gears, ours has 18" wheels matched also to the movie car.

I switched to Moser axles but they were far more trouble than they're worth. The OEMs are plenty strong.

Sounds to me like I'll leave the stockers in place. More money for other mods!

Unless you plan to run true slicks the OEMs are fine.

Maybe drag radials but for the most part mine is a daily driver. I'm sure after the gears go in I'll sit back and figure out how to come up with money for an aluminum DS and so on, what a wonderful addiction modding is!
