from The Detroit News: "A cold air intake and supercharger help boost the car's total power to a spine-shuddering 540 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, matching the top-of-the-line 2008 Ford Shelby GT500 King of the Road."
Just as I suspected, the 5.4L DOHC V8 is unchanged. Just like they added the CAI and tune from the '08 Bullitt to the 2010 Mustang GT, they have added the CAI and tune from the '08 GT500KR to the 2010 GT500. Any '07 to '09 GT500 owner can buy the exact same kit from FRPP and do the same thing (like I have already done) to get the 540hp and 510tq with the exact same components. I'm sure this will surely make all the people who paid way over sticker for the $80K GT500KR happy to see that the 2010 GT500 has the exact same engine and output as their KR.
The 2010 GT500 does get 3.55:1 gears versus the 3.31:1 in the previous GT500s and 3.73:1 in the KRs. The new front end looks okay, although I'm not a fan of the rectangular air slot in the hood, which breaks up the stripes even more than the two black vents in the '07 to '09 GT500 hood. I didn't like the grabber blue color on the 2010 Mustang GT photos released previously, but it looks pretty good with the white GT500 stripes breaking up all that solid blue paint. And I like the headlights shown in the picture (with the turn directions outside of the headlights instead of on the inside) better than the headlights on pictures of the 2010 Mustang GT (or are these the new optional HIDs?). Interesting that they moved the snake emblem from the driver side of the front grill to the passenger side. And, as the side view shows, they changed the sill stripe design to a pair of stripes with the GT500 lettering changing from stripe color to body color.
