Where do you buy Naphita??

I want to put side stripes on and I did a search and saw where you should use Nalhita to remover any wax. I checked some auto part stores and they looked at me like I was crazy. They said to use acetone or paint thinner. Where can I get some Naphita?

It's naptha. You can get it at any hardware store with the paint thinners. And absolutely do not use acetone unless you want a car with bare metal!

My buddy owns a detailing business and they use Dawn dish detergent to strip off the old wax.

1. Wash and rinse the area with liquid dish detergent and warm water. Then dry the vehicle surface with a clean, lint-free towel or cloth.

2. Finish up the cleaning process by wiping down the entire area with Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol). To avoid recontamination during the final cleaning step, wipe the surface in just one direction, using a clean, lint-free towel or cloth. You are now ready to apply the vinyl.

I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.

I found rubbing alcohol takes the wax off pretty well (anywhere there's a drip, from taking off the race numbers, there's a little wax-free spot).

I think Naphthalene used to be another word for gasoline. I know it is still the primary base of high octane gas but have no idea what the percentage is.

I've written a book or two. Google David Buschhorn to laugh at my scribblings.

And boy, if you don't feed your gasoline it just withers up and dies.

FWIW,

Naptha is the main ingredient in most lighter fluids. Guitar repair techs and luthiers have been using it to clean guitars for many, many years. It also works well for filling your Zippo, too.
