No brainer. GT500. The only Saleens that would give me piece of mind would be the forged bottom end Extremes. The ones with the supercharger and the stock bottom end are just like all the blown GTs here. Something more to worry about.

2005 Ford Mustang GT Torch Red Manual
Saleen Super Shaker 3.4 pulley/Brenspeed Tune
Kooks Longtubes Catted H/FRPP Stingers
Full BMR And Steeda Suspension
FRPP Throttlebody
Dynotech Driveshaft
SOLD!! I have no Mustang at this time!

Thats funny , since the release of the gt500 in 2007, I have litterally seen fewer then 5 to this day in this area, and for saleen have seen triple that...:hihi:
You've only seen 5 GT500 to date?
Yet you've seen 15 Saleens... (s197's?)
That is funny.

OP, as mentioned it depends on which model.

The S281 Extreme is a sweet looking car.

ive always loved the looks that saleens have i fell in love with the 99-04 saleen extremes. i love power more though so i ended up getting a gt500. now if saleen and shelby made a car together..... saleen looks with shelby power... i might have to sell mine then lol.

07 shelby gt500 537rwhp 520 torque whipple 160mm throttle body, vmp 1.6 supercharge pulley, JLT intake, sct livewire tuner, brenspeed dyno tuned, sequentials tail lights, window tints, low jack, 2010 shelby black/white stripe seats.

Same goes for me.. The fact that price range is pretty close and with a GT500 you get a built up motor.. S281 SC is a 3V with boost... Unless you are talking about a Saleen Extreme, then Saleen would be it for me..

2010 Performance White Mustang GT
FRRP Hot Rod Cams, CAI+Tune, longtube headers, Steeda intake delete plugs, Spec stage 2 clutch and flywheel, SLP LM, 3.73 gears, hurst short throw, steeda LCA, Steeda sport springs, gt500 struts, Powerslot rotors, and a bunch of appearance mods

GT500 no matter what. You cant beat the work of Carrol Shelby. Plus theres so much potential for that 5.4L engine. I'd buy that over a Saleen without hesitating.

2008 Mustang GT 5 speed 472HP 436 TQ
Procharger P-1SC Stage 2, GT500 Fuel System, FRPP Stingers, O/R H-pipe, Metco LCA's, Hurst shifter

GT500, add a Kenny Bell to it and you really have a monster of a car.

Saleen S/C, 4R70W Trans, 3:73 gears, 3200 stall PI, GT500 fuel pump, JBA Shorty headers.
