Overhaulin with Chip Foose

Last night for the first time I caught a eppisode of Overhaulin with Chip Foose, they stole a guy's 65 Mustang Fastback and Overhauled it, it was a Nice Show and it got me thinking.......
Now I love My 07 PONY, it's just got a V6 in it but I have kept it Immaculate, Showroom Condition and it only has 6,700 miles on it now. Plus I think the 05-09 Body Styles are by far the Nicest looking! My Question, on the Show Overhaulin they swapped out the guy's Motor, Tranny, ect ect, and made it a Beautiful Respectable Mustang, would it be possible to swap out the Motor in My 07 PONY V6 with a (FORD Racing V8 Motor and Tranny)? I was going to buy a Newer V8 Mustang in a couple more years, but I DONT Like the Newer Body Styles, plus My Mustang is still a Brand New Car and insted of Buying a Newer V8 I'd like to keep my Baby and just add another Motor, Tranny and whatever else to it, or WOULD THIS NOT BE POSSIBLE AS THE PRICE TO DO THIS AND ALL THAT'S NEEDED TO CHANGE ON MY MUSTANG NOT JUSTIFY THE OVERHAUL PRICE??
A newer Mustang would cost me $40,000 I figured if I can spend (a rough estimate and it's just a estimate) $10-12 Thousand on the Overhaul then I'd have My Dream Mustang and SAVE Money over a New One.
I would'nt consider the Swap if My Mustang was'nt as Brand New as it is, but it's like a Brand New one still.
If it's possible I dont want some wild Race Car, just a Mustang with some Power. What's your thoughts and what Motor, Tranny and such could I go with to do this that would fit on My V6 PONY? I'd even be Happy with a V8 that comes with the GT's and if it would bolt on My current Tranny and that's all I'd have to do is change Motors than I'd settle for that.
I want to do the Swap for the least money and have a V8 insted of the 6, what to do and rough estimate what would it cost?

Honestly, I think it would be easier and cheaper to sell your V6 and buy an 05-09 GT. Besides everything muckerpuck said you may also need new springs and shocks, if the V8 is heavier than than the V6.

Just my opinion tho', its your money.

Foose is the MAN!!!!!
I love Overhaulin'!

Wonder if you could buy one of the new 300 hp V6s?
That might save you some $, and you wouldn't be a lot heavier.

Just a thought, I'd probably take John's advise, there are a lot of very cool GTs with low mileage for sale.

Whatever you decide, good luck.

Where I thought I gained was from having a Mustang that is just about new and almost paid for, but most of all it's how I cared for my Mustang by never driving it in the Snow or Rain and it having only 6,700 miles on it. Where would I find a GT that has been taken care of this way? I may find one that was'nt driven in the Snow, but I doubt if I'd find one that has never been driven in the Rain.
I'd consider the new V6 310HP Motor if the swap was able to be done. But If I have to change the Wiring Harness, Motor, Tranny, Shocks and Springs, Rear End ect, then It's not what Im going to do and I'll have to look for a GT that was well taken care of, if one's out there....

I just bought my '06 a few months ago, and there are plenty of well cared for GT's. Again its your choice if you want to spend the money to modify your V6 into a V8 car, thats the essence of hot rodding! But, if it was my money I would just find a nice GT save the cash for modding that.

And I think Chip Foose is great. I used to love Overhauling, and my wife and I would compare Foose to American Hotrods Boyd Coddington. Foose always seemed to be a genuine nice guy who actually worked on the cars as opposed to Coddingtons grouchy old guy who barked orders and fired people.

I lost some of my love for Overhauling when they started to do cars for celebrities. It was great to see a hard working everyman get his car that he loved but could not afford to fix overhauled, but when they did it to people who could write a check to have it done tomorrow I really did not care. And it would be nice if they left California to find their "marks" once in a while too.

Go check out the July 2010 issue, newest one, of 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords. Article on page 104 called Spring Forward.

This guy took a 2006 V6 mustang and put a 5.4L GT500 motor in with a turbo! Now that's what I call a power upgrade! He's putting down 665hp and running 9.93 with his car.

If you are going to pull your V6 motor to do an upgrade I recommend this, go big or go home is what I say :hihi:

Thank's I'll go to Wal-Mart and get a Copy, I know they carry it there. Also in the other Quote they mentioned there are well taken care of GT's out there, Im sure there are but the Guy;s that take well care of them do it because they plan to keep them, the guy that drives his in the Winter and Rain will most likely sell to up grade. Also mine wont be paid for for another 2 years, by then it'll be hard to find a 2005-09 GT with Low Miles well taken Care of.
But if that's what I have to do then so be it, it may be tough but I guess it can be done.
Now if FORD only would have kept a Body Style I liked, like the 2005-09's then buying a new GT would have been the easy thing to do, but (Sorry 2010-11 Owners) Im not really Impressed with the newer Body Style.

Not to mention labor, and even a suspension upgrade to put this power to use. If your looking at engines from Ford Racing, they have prices listed, the GT being 7000-8000 and the GT500 Motor is 16,000 if i remember correctly. (Transmission included, forget what else.)

I thought about the same thing and its by far cheaper to swap to a used GT.

Another option is upgrading your V6 with a supercharger and getting a good chuckle at beating the V8's, but also run the risk of blowing up your motor. After you blow up the motor then it would be a good idea to upgrade to a bigger one!

I am totally on the same page with you. I plan on taking mine to a custom shop and getting the saddle color leather seats installed, and then basically making my car a 2011 GT under the skin. That is of course a few years down the road. Maybe by that time the 6.2 will be available to use in place of the new 5.0:kooky:

2009 Mercury Milan

I hear ya, although I loved what they did for Lance Armstrong's Pontiac.
I would LOVE to have them do my Mustang, they did a black 2005 GT for a nurse, sometime back, and it totally rocked!
