Automatic shift mechanism

Did the 2007 mustang shift mechanism and surround come in black? My wife's is black but appears to be coming off in a few spots do to wear. I keep seeing silver all over the place so I was concerned that hers has been repainted.

The shifter and the shift gate area are black on hers. She doesn't have the Interior Upgrade package on her GT so maybe that is why hers is not silver? At least she got the black leather interior for her black car. The strange thing is that the paint seems to be rubbing off around the trim that goes around the shift gate and the paint on the shifter isn't smooth...it's textured. I prefer it black but am concerned at to why it's rubbing off in certain spots.
