Limited Availability Charge - $2500

This is the sticker that I saw on all the Mustang GTs at a local dealership. $2500 was added to the sticker price of each one. Are you kidding me. Are people really paying this? I bet this lot had 20 GTs on it. Didn't look too "limited" to me.

last summer here in Ohio they were asking 10 over just to take an order.

I stopped in to see Carlos Medina at Gary Yeomans in Daytona when we were there on vacation a month ago- he had 11 gts in a row, and a bunch more sitting around...he sells at msrp, and is a genuine 'goodguy' in the business by all accounts Ive read. If you are in Florida, dont even think about getting gouged...theres a lot of big dealers down there, I'd heard one was still doing x plan, but dont recall the dealer...good luck.

EDIT- Oops: didnt have my glasses on(poor excuse) and didnt notice you already have yours...I thought you were shopping...

theres a local dealer here that I'd always thought was decent, but stopped for a accessories brochure and they had a GT(40) sitting there with a 35K ARM on it- so screw them too. I see a dealer doing that I just gotta say something snide while I'm there, as I really think its BS...they want to make more money on that gorgeous car than Ford will- and for what the priveledge of taking your money? screw them.

the dealer up here I bought from mentioned he was wanting to get in a GT(40) for the showroom, I mouthed off a bit right away about gougy dealers- he assured me they would be happy to sell cars at msrp and wouldnt gouge...nice thing about smalltown dealers(if they can get the cars).

06 gt stick vista blue - love this car!
07 pony auto vista blue (wifes)
09 gt stick vista blue (ordered day after the '10 reveal- 4 miles/undriven still)

only if they are stupid enough to. the days of selling GTs over msrp should be over by now. if a dealer is still doing it, i would stray as far away from them as possible....

BTW, msrp on mine was 31.8 got it on x-plan for 28.4. it can be done.:eyepoppin

I was out messing around today. Not in the market for another one. Just couldn't believe what I was seeing. I didn't know dealers were doing this kind of stuff. BTW...I actually did travel 4 hours North and buy mine from Yeomans last May. They were the only ones I could find that would sell for X at the time.

I got mine 2006 GT 5 Spd, for $1000 under MSRP. They had plenty on the lot, about 20 cars, but there was only 3 5spds. Seems to be no shortage here in Nevada.

I have yet to figure out why what somebody else pays for a car is such a volitile issue with other people. It's like a game to see who can pay the least for the car. In my world, I don't worry about what others pay, I go by "If you're willing to write the check, the price isn't too high." Don't you think that the ones who pay above MSRP for a car, know that they have almost a certain chance of losing that amount when they sale the car? It's their money, for heaven's sake, they can do with it as they please.

The only reason I can see for worrying about what some one else pays, is either, 1) it's your inheritance they are spending, 2) you will be paying the notes, 3) it stops you from being able to buy it. If it's none of these, "Why care?"

I would bet, when the time comes for you to sell your car, you will have the same opinion as the dealer.....sell it for what you think it is worth. If one thinks they can get more than blue book, they usually try....if it doesn't sell, then the price starts to come down.....just like a dealer. I would never call any one "greedy" for doing that.....it's a capitalist country we live in.

The same game could be played for modding out a car....not everyone is going to pay the same prices to get a car modded.

Just add $2500 to your trade, those market adjustments are just for the dealers to start negotioating at a higher point. The price you pay has more to do with daily traffic, thru the dealership, than anything else. Start negotioating at 4pm on a day with one or two deliveries and you will have a better chance of geting a fair price. Be willing to leave if they wont deal.

...while I understand what you're saying, I don't agree. It bothers me because inevitably when the dealers get away with it with someone else, they try it with me. I'm not very happy with my dealer (Kings Crown in Brunswick GA) but I was happy with the sales guy himself. The problem comes when they start talking like the Pony you're looking at is some kind of collectible, and people paying well over MSRP allows them to do that.
In the case of the new GT500, I can almost understand it. They're going to be limited, and everybody's going to want one. I would expect most people will pay over MSRP for it.
It's just like me and cellphones. I use a Treo 650, which is pretty high-end. Every year that a new model has come out, I've bought it, regardless of price, just so I could have the cool new toy. When it comes to Mustangs that are a dime a dozen though, it makes me angry. Not to mention that when someone buys a 'stang they are joining our club, whether we like it or not. And when they pay too much for their membership it makes all of us look a tad dumber.

disagree too. there is a term to describe what dealers who mark up over msrp like that are doing. its called price gouging. its also the same reason why gas prices are still high as hell even though the "alledged" crisis and shortage is over. damn oil companies and car dealers! they all nead a from the consumer. and it is a game to see who can get a mustang the cheapest. capitalism works both ways, its not just for the dealers. the consumer shopping to get the best deal is the real heart of capitalism. that said, i am not content to pay over msrp, and i doubt too many others are either. you want to overpay, go ahead, its your $$$. me, i shopped around to 5 different dealers before i found one that would do the x-plan. and you know what? makes me feel better about my stang knowing im not upside down in it like those who paid over msrp!:tongue

The reason I mention I paid X-plan price for my car is to give potential Mustang buyers hope that they don't have to pay inflated prices. When I first started looking I couldn't find anyone that would take under sticker for the GT. I was told over and over that no one was doing X-plan. I was almost ready to give in because I wanted the car so bad. Then I found this board and discovered numerous people who paid below sticker so I knew those dealers were out there. That's when my real search started and I didn't give up until I found what I was looking for. The information on this board saved me over 2 grand on the price of my car and I hope my success might help someone else out.

On the X-plan site it will only let you pick a V6 Stang. Some dealers are willing to do the X-plan on GTs?
I've got my PIN, now I have to wait a few months to make fulltime at my job (give or take, but I am not holding my breath), and black GT here I come!

YES! Some dealers are willing to do the X-Plan! Shop around, call around...speak directly to the Sales Manager. If you want the X bad enough, you'll find it!
