Top Down for how long?

How long can you leave the top down. It can't be good for it in the long run, all bunched up. What is considered too long, a week, a month, all summer? or is it worse to be raising and lowering every day?
This q might sound silly/paranoid but I dont want to be abusive and then need another top too soon.

The new MAterials are very forgiving. Plus with the glass back window you dont have to be worried about discolorization.

Though, I would warn that leaving it down in the garage all summer is going to allow all the dust that normall settles on the outside of the car to also settle in the inside.

Other than that, any wrinkles you get by leaving it down for a few month so work their way out as you drive it for a while with the top up. That how our 95 Z/28 was.

I put mine up and down all the time last fall...and then IT BROKE! It folded in on itself as I was raising it! Luckily the dealer replaced it under warranty with a new 2006 top. I guess there were some differences with the motor, tension cables, and the top itself. The top had "extra" ties on it the body shop didn't know what to do with. I guess they figured it out because it has worked great since then. I've raised and lowered it two or three dozen times since then when the weather is nice.

I got mine late last Sept. and put the top down right away. In Nov. when cold out it was defantly a 2 person job being very stiff and new. No Biggie though. I keep the boot on to keep the crud out when down too..

I put my top down on June 30 and didn't put it up again until storage time, which was sometime in early November. I did notice that it was stiff and took some encouragement to get it to seat before I was able to clamp it down, but it eventually worked. Soon it will again be time to lower it for the spring/summer/early fall. Sweet.

-When I put the top down, it seems that I have to press on it, just a little
bit so that I can see out of the back. I am guessing that the top will
relax as the weather warms up and as time goes on. Any suggestions?

thanks.

seeing your from PA. ,I think you'll have better luck with warmer weather. I never leave my top down when she's parked for the night. If the motor breaks, hopefully it will be within the warranty period:thumbsup

sorry for the stupid question, but does the vert top go up and down with a button or do you have to do it manually?

"defantly a 2 person job being very stiff and new"

is the reason i ask
Thanks

its fun leaving the top down all the time, even in the garage, I used to do that with my 03, in a way I will kind of miss those nights cruisin with the top down since I now have a coupe, but oh well, aesthetics won me over.

Question: Do you still have to (un)clip the hooks inside the car when putting the top up/down or is it now fully automatic?

- power top.
- 2 manual clips instead of the hooks. They look and work nicely.
