Exclamation Headlight Problem

So I'm washing my car today and while driving my younger bro calls me over to look at my headlights. I look and the blubs have this black stuff flaking off of them. Does anyone else have this problem or can someone go check there's and see if they have that. I've never seen that before.

Mine are ok, no flakes and by the way those are bulb covers not the bulb itself..........

Yep.

I noticed it on mine about a month after I got the car. The dealership replaced the entire headlight assy. I think it may have something to do with it getting too hot or something... like maybe the bulb it self is touching the plastic "thingy"...

Anyway, I snapped a pic of mine before it got fixed.

There wasn't a TSB when I had mine replaced. They just replaced it because it didn't look right.

Thanks for affirming that this is on more than one. Would you think this weakens the beam? I wonder how many others have this problem?

I don't think it would weaken the beam... It just looks funny, AND possibly it could melt the part even further, and then start a fire??? - worse case I guess.

Just to keep everyone up to date:

Went to my dealer and show them, they had to take a picture and send it to ford to be approved to be fixed. Ford told them to fix it and sent them some new headlight assemblys. So I would recommend everyone check theirs out to make sure there are no problems with there lights.
