Here is the best part.... He did not own the car!

I saw this on the news last week and it said that he did not own it, it was the banks!

Uh-oh!

Can you imagine HIS insurance rates...WOW!!!!! Darn, I hate when things like this happen. With the Stang that was stripped, I think may have been worse, for this damage is the driver's own fault, where as a stripped car (assuming that is what happened) is outside of the driver's control. Seriously, how many of us really feel for the loss of a guy who has way too much money and very littel driving skills, compared to the average guy who worked very hard to get a Stang and it end up like this?

What a waste of a fine automobile! It doesn't surprise me that he didn't own it, the owner of a car like that wouldn't have been that stupid!

Million-Dollar Ferrari Crashes in Malibu
From a Times Staff Writer
3:21 PM PST, February 21, 2006

A driver lost control of a Ferrari sports car traveling 120 mph along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu this morning, slamming into a power pole that cut the car which sells for up to $1 million in half, according to authorities.

One man suffered minor injuries. He was identified as Stefan Erikssen, of Bel-Air, said Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The sports car went airborne and struck a power pole 5 to 10 feet off the ground, Brooks said. The car was demolished, but two air bags deployed.

"You pay a million bucks for a car, you expect safety," Brooks said.

Investigators said they believe the driver was alone in the car and was engaged in a street race at the time of the accident. Erikssen told them the driver of the car fled on foot, but a search turned up no one, Brooks said.

The crash took place about 6:15 a.m. near Decker Canyon Road, an exclusive area of multimillion-dollar estates overlooking the Pacific in west Malibu, near Leo Carrillo State Beach.

The car reportedly a Ferrari Enzo worth between $600,000 and $1 million has a top speed of more than 200 mph.

Traffic on PCH was disrupted this morning during the investigation of the incident.

Brooks said the area is not known for street racing.

"We get some speed violations, but nothing over 70 mph," Brooks said.

Well, I guess the rest of the Enzo owners will see the value of their car go up. But I'm not BOO-HOOin' for anybody who can afford an Enzo Ferarri. If they didn't want it wrecked, they shouldn't have let the dude drive it.

It gets better. He had a SLR Mclaren and a black Enzo, both of which were stolen. His wife got pulled over in the SLR because it had european plates and the car was confiscated. Also police calculated that he hit the pole at 162 MPH, meaning he must have been going near 200 MPH before he lost control. Now he got arrested for driving, firarms possesion, gran theft auto, etc. In all he is facing nine charges, and is facing 14 years in jail. The good news is that Ferrari said that they will rebuild the car at a cost of anywhere between 250,000 and 300,000 dollars.

LOL rebuild.. even if the car were to be rebuilt it wouldn't be worth anything, no one is going to buy an Enzo that has been in that bad of an accident

I read somewhere that he bought them all legally in Europe, broght them to America, then stopped making payments - hence the grand theft auto charges.

What a loser!

Just read in the news today that this guy was a convicted criminal (illegal drug trafficing and something else) in his home country - Sweden. He is the previous owner of failed businesses. There was another Ferrari Enzo (Black) racing the red one. These two cars were shipped over from England (illegally) and he's never made a payment on them to the bank. What a loser.

Prev. owned: '65 Coupe, '84 GT, '86 LX w/ 5.0, & '05 GT Prem.

He actually spent 5 years in jail in Sweden in the early 90's for counterfitting. After that he became an executive of the swedish video game company Gizmondo in which he left after he was alledgedly involved in a Swedish Mafia Ring. That caused the company to crash. This guy just can't seem to keep out of trouble.
