can vinyl stripes be removed without too much hassle?

I found a good shop that willl cut and install some black vinyl 10" racing stripes, however I'm wondering down the road if I think "hmm, it looked better without stripes"...would I (or a shop) be able to take the vinyls off without too much hassle? would it leave behind a sticky residue that will make my paint look bad?

how much would it cost to have a shop remove racing stripes?

You can remove them yourself. It's easiest on a warm day or with a heat gun (carefully). There really shouldn't be any residue left but a good cleaning afterwards will remove anything left behind.

I work at a dealership and recently had a customer purchase a car on christmas eve that had a lot of vinyl on the side. He didn't like it at all and said he wanted it off before he took it home because it was a surprise for his wife. Since it was christmas eve and our detail department was closed I personally went out with a heat gun and plastic razor blade. It came off easy as could be.

there are methods to remove the adhesive residue left behind without damaging the paint. When the time comes, just search around for a paint safe cleaner. I believe Goo Gone is OK to use. I used it on mine, but I would just double check if you ever decide to get rid of the stripes.

They will come off easy enough, just be careful how long they are on there before you decide to remove them, because the sun will fade the paint around the stripes over time to the point where you will still see where they were.
