Getting windows tinted

Did everyone who got their windows tinting (coupe) need to have the door panels removed? The tint shop is claiming it can't be done otherwise.

Thanks.

I have tinted windows, but can not say 100% how it was installed. But I do not recall my tint shop guy saying anything about removing the door pannel to put on the front windo tint. I would check around for a second opinion.

I watched my guy. The panels don't have to be removed. They may be saying that because of the auto drop feature. All they have to do is trigger the striker with the door open to fool the window into raising all the way. Don't forget to pull the handle before you close it to reset the striker.

what about replacing the window felt? wasn't that a problem with the scratching?

Yepper, watched my guy too and no panels were removed. As far as the felt, it shouldn't have to be replaced.

Panels didn't have to be removed to install the tint. However, I am one of the ones that had to install felt along the inside rubber seal because it scratched the original tint - had to have them redone afterwards.
