Mustang vs NSX vs C6

This isn't really technical, but since this is the only forum I read I'm putting it here. I had lunch with a friend a few days ago who has a 2004 NSX. On the way home we swapped cars. My impressions of the NSX: this thing is WAY overrated. Cramped, minimal headroom, the whole car shakes at idle. Pulls strongly from 3000-8000 RPM, feels like it has about two inches of suspension travel. Then another friend gave me a ride in his '05 Corvette Z51 automatic. It was 1985 all over again (my dad bought a new Vette in '85): big fiberglass bow in front, lumpy seats (the ones in the '85 felt better), creaky, noisey chassis, anitquated 4 speed trans, feels like it has about two and a half inches of suspension travel, generally underwhelming. My Mustang, even ignoring the fact that it is one half to one third the price, is more satisfying.

You are comparing your car to two of which have suspensions designed specifically for the track.

I am in the opinion that no Corvette was ever really meant to be a daily driver.

I have nto been in a C6 yet, but all the other vettes I hav ebeen in were really comfotable once I got every adjusted properly.

To me squeaks, creaks, and rattles come with a tight suspension.

Stangs are much better suited for daily driver duties.

I don't ever recall hearing or seeing ayntihng great from an NSX...looks like a Ferrari....but definately doesnt have the performance of one. A waste of a lot of money if you ask me.

I agree. My wife hasn't even driven my Mustang.

I think I agree with the other posters, however. The NSX and the C6 are not designed to be around-town daily drivers, although they certainly could be. The NSX, being a mid-engine car, is well ballanced, but was always lacking a bit of muscle in my opinion. Mind you, I'd still like one. The C6 is also really a road course car. It's actually done pretty well in that arena. I once had a friend describe a ride in a Viper similar to driving an empty dump-truck. Stiff, noisy, and not very comfotable, but would make your hair stand up on end when you put your foot down. I think most high performance cars are similar, even my beloved Ferraris. If a Mustang were set up with a similar suspension it bet it would ride similarly. Look at the FR500C; it has also done well on road tracks.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

Just for the 15 minute drive home. He had driven my Mustang in stock form when I first got it and was polite but continued to rave about the NSX. I told him I had done a few mods since then but he was skeptical. Then he drove it and was suitably impressed. I guess I am just amazed at the value these cars offer.
