Pictures of my new helmet

hey all!
Finally got my first real race helmet so I can take the pony out on the track. Both the 1/4 mile and autocross here require a skid lid, no matter what. I got tired of using the loaner that smelled like sweat socks. Got it from saferacer.com and was very happy with the service. No shipping on anything over $100.

Of course, I had to put some decals on it to match the car...

Cool helmet. Why didn't you get full face?

Very cool helmet...would go very well with my paint scheme. I have a cap, polo shirt and jacket that matches it perfectly. As well as having the very similar running pony underneath my hood.

The consensus among the road racers I talked to was that a full face helmet in an airbag car has some dangers. Impact of the airbag into the chin protector can cause hyper extension of the neck by forcing the chin down and back. Open face is the way to go if you have an airbag, but if you don't, a full face is better due to the higher likelihood of collision with a hard object.

I couldn't verify the idea for sure, but it made sense. Plus, I'm extremely hot natured, so the open face is more comfortable. I also found with the full-face loaner that I had to pivot my head down to see the gauges.

and it was cheaper!

The idea is, of course, never to use it for its intended purpose!!
