Finally Got The 2007 Mustang GT Vert!
Was quite a pain to get it but it's here. (pics below). Let me tell you the deal I got on this. I was very surprised.
I had just bought my coupe 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I traded in a 96 C4 vette that I really was starting to hate and I really wanted rid of it. Went to look at a GTO they had used but it had been wrecked so he showed me the 2006 Mustang GT coupe. I needed $15k for the vette. They went $12k. The coupe was a 2006 premium GT 5-spd with 15k on the clock. They wanted $26.5 for it plus TTT. Coming from GM land, we are used to paying more for our cars than you guys in Ford land. I believe the 2006 could have been had for that new but didn't figure that out till I had already bought it. New to the Ford world, what can I say. I told them I would give them what they were asking for the 2006 if they gave me the $15k for the vette. They tried to negotiate it but eventually caved in. Considering the vette was really worth about $12k, you could wash the funny money and say I got the 2006 for $23500 and got $12000 for the vette in reality.
So I realize that the one thing the 2006 lacked that I missed from Vette world is a removable roof. With the sweet weather we recently had I found myself really missing. Then I thought how I always wanted a vert and thought I would try to marry the two together.
Finding a blk/blk 5-spd Mustang GT vert wound up being a healthy task that I will spare you the details.
I was a little bummed about the 2006 deal when after I got it I realized that I really didn't get all that good a deal on it considering it was used, 15k miles, 1.5yrs of warranty already used up, and the satellite radio was out in the 2007's which is something I really like.
So with all that, here is the deal I got on this new 2007 vert and why I couldn't pass it up:
Thanks to the $1000 rebate going on right now, they gave me $25k for my 2006 in trade AND gave me the new vert at invoice! Yep, $1500 more for the coupe than what I really paid for it 3 weeks ago before I put over 1000 miles on it!! I about chit my pants when he said he thought he can go $25k on it (and then actually did it)! I took it to CarMax the other day to get a ballpark and they offered $21k for it.
Right off the bat, I notice they are much tighter when they are new. Seats are a little more plush too. A bonus was that this had the interior upgrade package which gives you a metal shift knob and the metal pedals and who knows what else. Can't wait for some more spring weather!
