Fuel Pump problems

Well I popped the hood last night and one of the spark plugs on the ignition coil was slightly loose and I couldn’t put it back on. Question is if it is not hooked properly could that make it not start? Because I remember when I put them on and it ran even when the wires were hooked in the wrong order. I mean it sputtered but ran. I took the plug off and put it back on. But the car just turns and turns and turns...no start. I’m just trying to make sure that it’s not some stupid simple thing and that the pump is actually out. Can anyone help me to narrow down the problem here? I don’t know what to tell you I’m no mechanic but I’m willing to learn if someone knows how to narrow the problem down just in case it isn’t the fuel pump! Thanks
