Yeah, +1 on filling it before it's less than half full. That's not always easy to do.
Mine does it at times, and I do the upside down nozzle approach, just to get some gas going in; sometimes, especially if I'm really low, it will take a few tries to get some gas going in. Once enough gets in, I can reposition the nozzle to normal position and get it the rest of the way filled.
