06 V6 Starter squeal and hard start

Since I purchased my 06 Mustang V6 (automatic) a few months ago it always took a lot of cranks for the car to start. At times it would crank for 1/2 sec, hesitate for a 1/2 second and start cranking again and then it would start. I also had a squeal every now and then just after it started. I thought the squeal was from a pulley so I replaced the idler pulley and still had the squeal. Did some more searching and found the thread shown below (hope the link works) Turns out all the problems were the starter. So yesterday I replaced the starter and all is well, no squeal and the car starts so much faster. I couldn't find any info posted on where the starter was located on a V6 (passenger or driver side). For a V6 its located on the driver side and was easy to get to by getting the drivers side up on jacks. It also made is a lot easier to replace the starter by removing the front tire. It gave me so much more room to swap out the starter. For any newbies replacing a starter is pretty easy to do and will save you $$ from going to a dealership. Also remember to disconnect the battery before you start!
