I prefer to use a harmonic balancer puller, loan from a local auto parts store if you don't have one.
The bolt is a TTY (torque-to-yeild one-time-use) bolt on the 4.6 V8, but not so sure on a 4.0 v6, as the bolts are different. You can tell by the tightening instructions: if it says tighten to x-ft-lbs then an additional x-degress, that is usually a TTY bolt.
