06 Mustang Headlight Repair

Hi everyone,

I have an '06 V6 Mustang that has a headlight out. I know they are easy to change as I have changed them before. However, I believe with age, and that I used to live on the seacoast with lots of salt air, the clips have dried out. I can depress the clips but I cannot get them to let go. I have tried everything and worked at them so hard that I've bruised and cut up my hands just trying to get them off. I tried blowing in compressed air to get out debris. I tried a little WD40 to lubricate. The WD40 seemed to help the clip move slightly but I still cannot get them to release.

Any tips or tricks? I'd really rather not bring this to a garage when it's something that I know I can do on my own.
