[2006 v6] What should I connect this wire too?

Hi guys,

Working with limited knowledge here. I'm trying to install of those flashy under-door projection lights.

I've gotten as fat as removing the door panel and drilling the hole for the LED but I have no idea which wire to connect it to.

I found the wiring diagram but unfortunately cannot decipher which colors I should attach the wire to.

I do not want to run these off of the map lights since the wires aren't long enough and it would require extra work.

I'm looking to wire them to something in the door so that when the door opens the lights project onto the floor.

I have two wires for the lights. One red one black. Can someone take a look at the wiring diagram and let me know specifically which wire and color to hook them up to?

There are no wires in the door that will allow you to wire these into your interior lighting system. You must install them the same way that the illuminated door sills are wired. This means you have to wire them into a wire located on the passenger A pillar. It's a very simple job. You will have to add additional wire to your lights in order to reach the destination. There is no shortcut around this. It's easy.

See attached PDF from CDC for reference.

Right - That makes sense. They dont NEED to be hooked up to the interior lighting system is what I'm saying. There should be something in the door that is getting power that would allow these lights to turn on?

Getting them to the passenger side pillar is honestly out of my scope. I wouldn't even know how to attach a longer wire and even wire them through the car like that.

It seems there, that there is a hook up to the interior lights in the short drop/door ajar sensor. I just need to confirm that it says that wire is light green/black?

Where would I then connect the black wire?

Also, I'm a little confused on how to connect these wires, because they end up going into a harness. I know how to attach to wires together, but how I can I attach it, if its going into the harness.

Maybe you should let someone who knows basic elec. Help you before you cause your self a nightmare. Just a suggestion.

If you insist on doing yourself find a wire in door harness thats hot when door is open hook red wire here by soldering and taping good and ground black wire

OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER BUT YOUNG ENOUGH TO STILL ENJOY IT

Don't mess with your door sensor. That's a big no-no. You'll regret it later on down the road.
