Question How to upgrade my 2007 4 gauge cluster

i have a 2007 V6 ford mustang with the 4 gauges cluster shows like 183k miles w/o the message center but i have the setup switch wire on it.

i recently buy a used 05 cluster with mycolor and setup switch.shows 88,xxx miles.i want to hooked it up in my 07.

But the old owner of this cluster told me ("that the tach, temp, fuel gauges didn't work and the brake light and abs lights were on along with a message saying check brake system. The brake warnings are because the car doesn't have abs so if you don't have abs it would have to be programmed by ford.") thats happens when he hooked it in to his mustang.

Can you guys make the programming like cloning my actual cluster for upgrade the one that i just bought? or what do you recommend me to do?

Never a good idea to use parts earlier then the vehicle you have especially electrical. The 05 didn't have abs so that is an issue that I doubt any programming can fix. Better off finding one compatible with your year. You will need to have the mileage corrected with a used cluster.

Unhappy results that it's not compatible

i have been searching online and asking in ford dealers and they told me that cluster to be programmed have to be same part number but i read that some guys can make the upgrade :/ my car Its come with the 7R3Z-10849-JA cluster and i want to upgrade this cluster to a 7R3Z-10849-EA that comes with the message center and 6 gauges. I just want to know if may this possible because my car comes with the wire assy for the info/setup/reset switch and ill like to have the message center cluster on it.

Sorry, ABS WAS available in the '05 Mustang. I have one. Now I do agree that using a cluster from an earlier model may be a problem, but ABS was definitely an option in '05. The downside to the swap is that in order to do it right, you will have to bring both clusters with you to your Ford dealer to have it programmed. And yes, it can be done. You just have to find a dealer willing to do the work. And that will cost you time and money.

I want to do this to my '05 someday. Let me know how your project goes. Best of luck!

I stand corrected thank you. I made the change on my 07. The only thing is I had to do is correct the mileage. The dealer gave me a name to send the cluster to that they use. Powl's Speedometer in Lancaster Pa. Sent the cluster out got it back in two weeks.

Hey Hobojack,

Did you have to send both clusters off to be reprogrammed, or just the ne one and supply the correct mileage? How did they determine what options came on your car? Just curious, cause I'm interested in doing this myself. And don't sweat the ABS thing. A lot of people were unaware that ABS was available in '05, not sure why. But after I bought mine, I started doing research and heard the same thing "no ABS in '05". Then I went and checked under my hood, boy was I releived.

No I just sent the replacement cluster. Just told him what the mileage I need to change to. He will make you sign documentation for the mileage change.
