The speedo is one thing I don't care for in the Mustang. Too hard to read your speed accurately.

If an aftermarket cluster was designed for this car with a digital speedometer I would probably go for it.

I used the digital mph readout during my trip from NY to AZ, very awesome thing to have, as it gives a more accurate readout of your actual speed than your gauges. I think the 19" rims have something to do with this.
Ill try this tonight and post the results....

You could also plug in a Scangauge to get this info all the time. You can have 4 pieces of data up at any given tim. Select from these:

TPS: Throttle position sensor 0-100%
fIA: Intake Air Temps (Temperatures at the intake manifold)
fWT: Coolant water temperature
HPR: Horsepower (Looks to be pretty accurate from initial runs on several cars)
VLT: System Voltage
IGT: Ignition timing (advance)
LOD: % Power request
Closed/Open loop: Fuel management and transition point from O2 control to WOT
STF: Short term Fuel trims (Idle % on Block 32)
LTF: Long term Fuel trims (Partial throttle on Block 32)
OX1: #1 O2 sensor output, 0-100
OX2: #2 O2 sensor output, 0-100
MPH: Digital speed reading from Speed sensor
RPM: Digital RPMís
MPG: Miles per gallon
GPH: Gallons per hour

Trip Data: Fuel economy, Fuel used, Distance, drive time, Avg. speed,
Distance/time/fuel to empty, ETC.

Scan Tool: Code reader and eraser, Readiness test, Turn off CELís

I usually monitor fuel trims and intake temps constantly

I was just looking for ways to get a digital speedo and then I read this thread... the Heavens opened up, and the sun shone down on me... yes, even in my office... I am so glad someone found this out! I love this ability to get this digital, but has anyone else noticed that the digital reading seems to be about 3-4 miles slower than the regular spedometer shows? just wondering.

Ford has always overrated their speed. Just an FYI, Every ford vehicle I have owned was about 2-3 mph less than my speedometer told me. (police friends with lasers). So the Digital is reading your actual speed.

i never knew about this - but i just did it on my 2010 gt500 and it worked - so thanks alot for the info . --I love the dig. speedo - now i can see how fast the car really is..

just hold down the far two right keys turn the key -- and release on when it says test mode - that easy - then push the far right key --*the reset key on the gt500* until you get to what you want.. --

Good to see this on the Mustang.

Dodge SRT8s have the Electronic Vehicle Info Center (EVIC). It does a digital Speedo (which records top speed), shows Tire Pressure and even a 1/4 mile and 0-60 timer.

I just checked it last night. It does work. All you have to do is hold the 2 right buttons. Then hit reset to go through the options. Great tool to have. Kinda cool to use.

Maybe the PCM code can be changed to make this an easy access display???? Is there a tuner in the house who can talk to this???

I gotta try this to see the digital speed. The actual speedometer is just too small for me.

We have a timer too, not sure if it stops when you hit 60 or 1/4 though

oook, it doesn't do half the stuff you just said for one. also you need only press the reset button, not both. and 2.. you cannot tamper with anything in hec. its only for informational purposes. the only thing you are right about is it that is more accurate on reading you speed since ALL vehicles have a 0-3mph lapse between what the pcm is a reading and it transmitting to the gauge cluster. dont dont act like you know what you talking about when you really dont. have a nice day. i been a tech for 6 years and we never even use this crap its useless and you are paying for it!!
