Jon Lund vs Bama vs Brenspeed

I know this has been discussed on several posts. I would like to know what people think of these 3 tunes and if there is a clear one that is better for overall tune, HP etc

Thanks in advance.

Installed a Bama 93 Race tune with an Airaid CAI... Couldn't be happier. Excellent customer service from AM and Bama.

You frequently see a guy (Chris Rose) from AM on here as well, helping out or giving good feedback. Haven't seen much from the other guys.

There is a ton of information but there is no defining thread that will tell you which one to get if that's what you're looking for. There are people that are happy with all of the available tunes out there.

I went with Bama because of the free tunes for life offer giving me an updated tune no matter where I buy new parts from. I didn't like the idea of having to pay another $50-75 to get an updated tune just because I didn't buy the part from the same vendor as the tune.

You are going to get everyones personal choice, and it will be biased. so....

IMHO, Jon Lund is the best tuner out there for the 2011 5.0 Mustangs, hands down.

Now wait for 30 other people to say the same about theirs...

I was thinking of buying Jon Lund tune. Just heard great things about his tunes but don't see many people using his as much compared to Bama, Brenspeed etc.

What I tend to laugh at is the HP levels the new 5.0 is achieving and with ALL the tuners bringing those levels up another 5-10% the seperation is but a couple of HP......maybe 5 ??? ....correct ??.....am I missing something here ??

if so and if anyone feels they can descern (in the seat of their pants) a difference of 5HP when a motor is making say 435 -440hp I have two words.........'BS' !!

Now with regards to 'off the line accceleration' if these tuners have more serious swings in thier trq numbers say under 5k then that could be a different matter.

Cheers !

Peak HP numbers mean nothing. Ive offered to do back to back overlaying dynos with other companies against my Lund tune and so far no takers...

Drivability is another thing, too. Not all tunes are the same. how the car acts under normal driving conditions, full throttle acceleration, mid range, low end, top end, etc.

Also, pay attention the th various threads that pop up with issues some companies keep having. I wont bash anyone, but its pretty obvious. The same couple companies accross a few boards are having issues with knock, pinging, having to constantly gt re-tunes. etc.

Ive Had the tune installed when the car had only an intake. installed a catback, no re-tune required. cat deleted and xpipe, no re-tune required. no bucking, no lurching, no CEL's. Just factory like drivability with a bad ass tune that woke the car up. Not only is Jon SOLO, two major mustang shops not only use him to tune all customer cars, but they also use him to personally tune their shop cars. Lethal and Evolution performance.

Like i said, some people will be happy paying 50-75 for a tune, and go about there day. To those who have used or are currently using Jon's tune know how its worth every bit of what h charges. Of course, this is just how i feel, and others may differ. all you can do as a buyer is consume all the info and make the best decision. your car, your money.

The peak horsepower is not why everyone is buying tunes. The overal drivability and response is what makes these tunes so popular and where tuners are showing their skills.

I've had a BBR tune for about 5 months and I can't say enough good things about it.

Thanks very much guys that's all I wanted to confirm was Jon Lund tune was top notch, has the drive-ability and makes you wet your pants when you stomp on it.

Hello CalgarybanditAs, for those that know me and have read my posts regarding mail order tunes over the past several months I have tried nearly every mail order tune on the market and I can tell you the best tuner in the country IMHO for me and my 'Stang is a custom dyno tune by Monty Johnson (owner & tuning specialist) of JMS Chip and Performance located in Lucedale, MS. He has been tuning S197 'Stangs and Shelby's for more than 10 years. Hands down Monty Johnson is the VERY best tuner in the country even if he doesn't get all the publicity and main stream media attention that Jon Lund has received. I guess my custom dyno tune from Monty Johnson speaks for itself as I only have a few simple bolt-on mods (refer to my signature for a short listing of my current mods) and I am laying down 600+ rwhp which is good enough for me for a street driven stealth machine. Bottom line I don't think there is a clear mail order tune that is the VERY best and significantly better than the rest as the major players (Jon Lund, Chris Rose (AM), Livernois Motorsports, Brenspeed, JDM Engineering, VMP Tuning, Torq Tuning, etc.) offer an improvement over the stock tune parameters in terms of performance, driveability and fuel efficiency. Good luck to you and please let us know which tune works best for you. Take care and keep the updates coming. Jack
