What up guys. I need a little enlightenment on offsets. Which would be the better let

What up guys. I need a little enlightenment on offsets. Which would be the better looking offset for 20x9 XXR 526 wheels on my 2012 Mustang 5.0? They offer the wheels in +15 and +35 offsets. It seems the +35 offset is the perfect fit based on most people's setups. I don't want any rubbing. I also I don't want the wheels to tuck in to far or stick out too far. So which is the best offset for our Mustangs. THANKS.

My potential setup would 20x9 with 255/40/20 on the front and 275/40/20 on the back

I also see most guys would rather run 255/40 and a 275/35 on the back. Wouldn't a 40 series tire provide better comfort?

THANKS

Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

Play around with the calculator and plug in your stock wheel and tire specs. Compare those to the new setup and you can see potential fitment.

I've used this several times before and it's very helpful. But it looks like it became a little too popular. They're now charging for full access.

saunupe1911,

I believe the +15 offset is going to stick out a fair bit.

I believe 30mm positive offset is low as you can to be flush. I've seen some 19" wheels with + 15mm offset and they do stick out, but they also look kind of cool IMO.

The Ford Racing SVT GT500 19x9" Front wheels are 40mm, and the Ford Racing Boss 302 19x9" Front wheels are 42mm, while the RTR 19x9.5 are 33mm.

In my opinion, the RTR wheels stick out too far in the rear at 33mm on a 9.5" wide wheel. If the wheels your looking at have a 35mm offset at 9" wide, they will tuck in about .2" closer to the car. Run with a narrower tire like a 255, they should sit about as flush as you can get with looking strange from the 4-5 or 7-8 o'clock view.

Here's a link to my post - I used similar wheels and tires on the front - 30mm Offset and 255/40/20. I went a little wider on the rear with 10 inch wide rims - 50mm offset and 295/35/20 tires. I think it lines up perfect with the outside of the car. I would be a little worried that 15mm offset would stick past the edge of the fenders and have a "truck" look.

I didn't notice any ride quality difference. With 275/40/20 on the rear you are going to throw your speedo out quite a bit.
