Lethal Performance BOSS Runs [email protected] at Mustang Week!

‪Lethal Performance 2012 Boss 302 runs 10.31 @ 132.41 at Mustang Week 2011‬‏ - YouTube

Mustang Week 2011 was a huge success for Team Lethal. When we arrived at Darlington Dragway with Team UPR early Thrusday we were joined by the crew from Monster Energy and Steve Turner from 5.0 Mustang Magazine shortly after. We prepped the car and blessed it with some fresh decals from UPR and Monster Energy & Mcleod and we were ready to rock. This was the 3rd time our Boss had ever seen the 1/4 mile strip. The conditions were definitely less than favorable with scorching heat. None the less our hired gun Jeremy Martorella from UPR Products lined up the Boss for it's first run of the day. Unfortunately it didn't make it out of the burnout box. Not once, not twice but 3 times our intake tube popped off. A little embarrassing to say the least especially as this was a big event with lots of people watching and our first time in front of the Monster Energy crew. However we know from experience this stuff happens when racing and we kept our heads up high.

With a little customization by Jeremy and Mark from UPR the intake pipe wasn't going anywhere. We hit the burnout box again and this time actually made it to the starting line. There were lots of cheers and clapping from those in the crowd as they were also just as happy as we were that we made it past the water box.

Jeremy launched the car and we made our first full pass with a 10.40 something trapping close to 135mph. Our nest run yielded us the best ET of the day with a [email protected] which is the quickest anyone has been in a 2012 Boss. The MPH on this run was low due to Jeremy needing to shift into 5th gear right at the end of the track. There were also a few small things we need to work out with the car which we took care of once we got back home. We know that once back at Palm Beach International Raceway we should see better times as it was just too hot to see the performance we expect from the car. We'll be out again tomorrow so be sure to keep posted on our progress.

In the end we were stoked to have been able to run the car at Mustang Week in front of all of our customers/fans.

We want to thank everyone for all of their support. Jeremy Martorella, UPR Products, Steve Turner, 5.0 Mustang Magazine, Monster Energy (Rob, Stuart, Scott, Eldina) , Jon Lund, JLT Performance, [email protected] Mustang Week, Mcleod Racing, Bogart Racing Wheels, SCT , StacyStangz for the awesome pics, all of our fans and supporters and especially Christy for putting together such an awesome video!!!

Why would anyone drag race a Boss? Or destroy it by setting it up for drag racing? I see those tires and cringe. These are supposed to be ring cars. Much more interesting so see their lap times at Road Atlanta or the Glen. Seems like kind of dumbing it down to use one for drag racing. Are there a lot of guys out there setting up GT3's or 458's for a drag strip?

Now a Shelby, that you drag race. Maybe it's just me.

How can you compare a gt3 or a 458 italia to a boss 302? Are you crazy? The boss 302 is more of a drag car than a circuit car. Do you really think that the stock brembos and single piston toy rear brakes wont fade after a few laps? Hell the differential of this car burned up after a drift session. The boss 302 is great but don't kid yourseof and think that it is a track car. Just like the srt4 owners think that they have a track car.

Then why is there a Laguna Seca version of it? I would imagine if you put the $$ into track parts that are in the above car for drag parts, you'd have a pretty decent track car. The Boss is, and always has been, the track Mustang. Certainly not a Ferrari or Porsche, but can hold its own in its class.

To me, it would be like taking a Raptor built for off road 4X4 and setting it up to pull campers instead of using a Super Duty, which was made for that purpose.

Oh, and drifting =/= track racing.

For a 3500 pound car to run a 10.31 , it takes over 650 HP...

1/4 ET 10.31
132.4 MPH

http://www.wallaceracing.com/et-correction.php

Altitude 155, Temperature 91.4, Humidity 66% and Barometric Pressure of 29.94 = DA 2645 Feet… This is from 11:15 7-21-2011

Drag Racing 1/4 Mile times 0-60 Dyno Fast Cars Muscle Cars - DragTimes.com

I know the RaceStar wheels and Slicks would help, … More than likely headers, an aluminum drive shaft, apparently a CAI of some sort… and a Lund tune… maybe some 4:10.1 / 4:30.1 rearend gears But no… all of that and a stock boss 302 engine does not make 650+ HP

And if you think so, go buy it and found out yourself….

So what type of blower or N2O 150 shot kit did you have on the car at the time?

I don't speak often but when I do, I don't have clue what I am talking about. I just repeat things that I once heard and do not repeat them correctly... My doctor told me it was an ID 10 T problem and it was incurable.
So when I reply to a post or add to a thread I just find the words elsewhere and copy and paste.

The AC Cobra, AMX, Trans Am, Z28, Supra, RX7, and many others have done well on the strip and the road course.

[email protected] MPH tells it all.
Also, the Boss weighs less and costs less than a GT500.

The BOSS is looking good Jared. It should put down some really good times when it cools off. That's a damn good run considering the conditions. The pic's are really good too... Was it just me or did it look a bit soft on launch and it pulled a bit to the left. Still that was an excellent run. That baby's got a ton of torque!..

I would think it has a centrifugal supercharger to take advantage of the intake. But it may also have a big shot of nitrous as you say but I didn't see a purge.

i read on other forums that they saw a zex blackout nitrous kit. you dont need a purge to run nitrous.

We were at Darlington, my wife said "what's wrong with the pretty white Boss?". I told her shyt happens. I was glad y'all got it worked out. That was a shame about the Fastlane turbo car, that 7.99 run made my wife yell "WOW!"It seemed like a slow track, and was hot as FVCK, but still fun to see so many 5.0s run!Good Luck!
