Does anyone have 22" wheels on their 2011 5.0 mustang? Are there any problems with 22" wheels? I'm trying to decide if I should go with 20" and lowering or just pull out the 22" wheels?
Why would anyone put 22 inch wheels on a mustang???? It looks completely ridiculous. Its your car but I think that 22 inch wheels belong on suv and pick-up trucks.
Might have trouble fitting it in there. I don't think you can get a 22" tire that would match the standard diameter of 28". I think it would fit though. Try not to get something overly heavy. Stock 19" tire/wheel combo weighs 60lbs.
Nevermind, its been done. You shouldn't have any problems. Those are RUF 22s.
You don't have to jack up/lift these mustangs to put 22s under them. I think the one I posted the picture off looks just fine. Only issue is how thin the sidewall is for a tire is close to stock diameter.
22" wheels on a Mustang = Beyond Stupid
22" wheels on a Mustang = Poser
22" wheels on a Mustang = Rough Ride
22" wheels on a Mustang = Slower Mustang
22" wheels on a Mustang = Worse Braking
22" wheels on a Mustang = Requires better than stock shocks
i live in socal where you can see it all - donks, bubbles, boxes, tail draggers, buckets, $$$ exotics and everything in-between with 22's or bigger and it is all very cool, but cool looking is all you will get with 22's - its not a hipo choice in a mustang.
Here is a pic of 20's, I cant imagine the ride characteristics with the 22's. Also, unless you put a rubber band around the outside I would imagine you would have clearance issues. Mine is lowered with the Roush Stage 2 suspension.
If you were going road racing with that Roush Mustang, you would drop down to an 18" wheel, as the 20" wheels would just slow you down from the weight and reduced traction from such a short sidewall. The 20" wheel is for appearance only, and 22" wheels are ridiculous.
If I had ordered the car it would have had 18", the 20's are a bit big for my taste. I do like the look, but I would prefer the lower weight, better riding and cheaper to replace 18" tire. At 20k miles a year I will be buying a set of tires every year (or less)
The tires are 275/35/ZR20 Cooper Zeon RS3. They ride good considering, but all in all I would prefer the 20's, dont think the vert will be allowed on the track for any real racing anyway.
I'll be honest in that I call people names when they are riding 22's on mostly any vehicle.... I think it would really put a hurt on the image you are trying to display.. being that it IS a mustang.... not a cutless.

I guess those who said I have 22'' can't read because I asked a question. I asked if I should go with 20"s and lower the ride. Those who came back with jerk responses, shows to your character of what type of person you are. When someone asks a question you want to belittle them. Thank you to those who actually trying to help, to those who were jerks, sound like you have challenges in your life. It was a question, not a statement.
The title of your thread is "22" wheels on 2011 5.0", what responses did you think you were going to get?
Why anyone would spend $30k+ on a high performance pony car and then totally destroy its performance, ride and daily usability with heavy ass, ghetto cruiser 22" rims is beyond me.
You could have saved yourself $28k and bought a 1986 Chevy Caprice and looked every bit as fly, 'yo.
Sorry I was being a jerk, sometimes I just can't resist.
To answer the question, as pointed out, 22" wheels can fit with the proper size tire, but there will be drawbacks to running such large wheels. By running a slightly taller tire, you could regain a little ride quality, but I highly suggest you install good shocks/struts on the car if you plan to install 20" or larger wheels, as those suckers get quite heavy.
The largest wheel people put on the current Mustang is a 20" wheel. Anything larger than 20" with a 27" tall tire is going far past practical.
hey EyeOfDeTiger great come back, some in here get a little crazy, you should see the threads with guys who put badging on a car that isnt original ie: boss stuff or even worse shelby stuff on a regular gt, truth is its your ride and whatever makes you happy!! Its all good
