2011 Mustang Stock Airbox Mod

Similar to factory 2005/2006 GTO an approximate 1.25 inch hole is cut in the side of the airbox to pull additional air from the fender area. Note on the Mustang this is still fairly well insulated from a majority of the hot engine air and pulls cold air mostly from the stock CAI duct. Tools used include a 1 inch hole saw, dremel and 1 3/16 socket for final template outline. I don't think it gains much but really sounds good in combination with the sound tube and resonator delete. Take time to measure and cut the hole in stages. Finally sand off the rough edges.
See pics.

Note: Also see how Volant designs their CAI systems for similarities.

You could take it one step further and put a piece of screen in it, just to keep and leaves and crap out of the airbox. I've seen this done on a few different vehicles, I'm guessing it may help a little along with the sound. Not sure how much it helps.
Some people even go a little further by smoothing out the inside of the air box so there isn't any air turbulence . . .

A bit more response off the bottom end (as in off the line a/t) and it sounds 'for real' what the sound tube is trying to accomplish. I like it ! Keep in mind this is a conservative 1.5 inch or so to still draw most cai from the stock duct.
