What 15" Wheels Fit and What 15" Wheels Don't?

I'm looking for a comprehensive list of what 15" wheels actually fit out cars. I'm looking to get a dedicated set of drag wheels and would like to pick up a very cheap new/used set to save some $$ due to only hitting 3-4 TT's each summer. However, the only 15" wheels that I KNOW fit our cars are the RaceStars, but they are new enough that I haven't run into any used sets for sale.

Here's a list of other wheels that I THINK might fit and would appreciate any input on whether or not they do fit our cars:

Summit Fast Five Wheels (BS and offset are identical to the RaceStars)
Jegs Sport Stars
Weld ProStars
Weld Draglites
some Centerlines

Input from anyone who has dealt with these wheels would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

The Weld RTS wheels will fit, but there seems to be a lot of confusion about which "pad" the wheel will need for each version of the SN197 brakes. Do a little research and/or call Weld directly to get the proper fitment for your car.

PS - these are 15" rear and 17" fronts.

More info here.

The Race Stars are a great fit in the 15x8. However, make sure you get the new direct drill versions as the older oval drilled versions are awful. I cry every time I mount my wheels.

I had a set of the Race Stars and I hated them due to the offset washers and multiple lug patterns they fit. So, I sold them. I just recently bought a set of the 15x10 Jegs Aluminum Sport Stars with a 6.5" backspace. They are hitting the very edge of the rear calipers so I bought a 1/4" wheel spacer. I believe they will fit now but am not 100% certain as I have not tried yet; I just got the spacers yesterday.

Well I had some time at work today that I hadn't planned on so I was able to call the Summit, Jegs, and Weld tech lines. Here's what I found out:

*disclaimer-my preference/definition in regards to "fitting" is without any form of modification (spacers, caliper grinding, etc.)

Summit - none of their Weld knock-offs (Fast Five, Quick 8, Pulsar) fit due to the inside diameter tapering down from the outside of the rim to the inside

Jegs - none of their Weld knock-offs (Sport Star, Sport Lite, Sport Mag II) fit either for the same reason as the Summit wheels

Weld - the more common styles (ProStars, Draglites, Rodlites) do not fit but the RT-S series S71 with a "medium pad height" and the entire RT series (Weld Star, Magnum III, Vitesse, Classic, Vektor, Woodward) do fit

That said, 46Tbird, I appeciate your theft from the S197 forum, lol, but it does contradict with the Jegs and Summit tech lines. I was wondering if it was posted by someone who tried all these wheels or if the just collected information like I did? I tried viewing it but it's a private forum.

MBreinin, thanks for the heads up on the direct-drill RaceStars, I didn't realize they existed. I'll definitely wait and get them to avoid the possibility of the washer issues that some people have been having. Who carries the direct drill style, AM, LRS?

Thanks for the input everyone.

Every one of those bulleted items was from a person that had actually fit those wheels on their car. That is a 7+ page thread over there with a LOT of discussion, might be worth the time to register seeing as it should answer the exact question you asked.

Okay, I imagine that's a pretty useful thread then. I'd guess that it's probably a car-by-car debate on whether or not they will fit without modifications, fit on some cars but not all. Summit and Jegs probably just say that they don't fit to cover their @$$es. My hang up is that I don't have a way to try them out before buying them and if I buy them and they don't fit I'm out the shipping both ways. I think I'm going to hold out for the direct drilled RaceStars as my main hesitation was dealing with the offset washers deal, I'd really like a set that I can just slide on, torque to spec, and race. Again, thanks for the info.
