2011 Mustang GT JMS Nitrous review/results

Finally got to the track after installing a JMS-Chip nitrous kit on my 2011 Mustang GT automatic. Other than the nitrous kit my car is 100% stock. My best run of the day was 11.72 @ 124.6 mph (2.04 60') on a hot humid day using the 100 hp jet.

I run 305/45/18 MT drag radials (@20 psi) at the track. They hooked up great and allow me to go through the traps around 6800 rpm in third gear. The progressive controller turns the nitrous on at 2800 rpm. This allows me to hook up great off the line but results in less that stellar 60' times. I'm sure shorter gear or 3000 rpm stall converter would help.

Overall I'm very happy with the results of this kit and its great performance value. I paid $850 for the kit (I alread had the SCT tuner from Bama) and $50 for a 10lb nitrous fill. Installation is pretty simple and took me about 2 hours using their YouTube video as a guide My only problem was I kept blowing the plastic nitrous line included in the kit, so I replaced it with a braided SS line ($40).

I plan on going back to the track on a cooler day and will update my results

That is a good run with a great trap speed. Glad you like the JMS nitrous kit.

Great times for a 2.04 60'! That just shows you it has a little more left in her. With a little more practice and a solid 60' you'll be able to cut that time down to a 11.5-11.6 no problem.

Good work, keep practicing!

Awesome times! I assume you meant 4th gear tho?

I guess that's close enough.

But good runs and times!

I did mean 3rd gear. My car is an automatic with stock 3.15 gear. The 305/45/18 drag radials are 28.8 inches tall. This effectively drops my gear to 2.95 relative to stock 27" tire. Combined with 1.52 3rd gear, I finish the 1/4 mile around 6800 rpm in 3rd gear.

I'm thinking of eventually changing to 3.73 gear and running 305/35/18 drag radials (26.4" tall). This would get me off the line and into the nitrous quicker (turns on at 2800 rpm), and finish the 1/4 mile in 4th gear around 6600 rpm.

Thanks everyone.

Overall I'm real happy with the results of this kit. I hope to get into the 11.5's or better with a cooler day.

I think high 10's is possible with more gear. With 124-125 mph trap speeds the power is there. I just need to get out of the hole quicker. Maybe gears next year.

I too have the jms dry kit but my car is a 3.73 manual. I havent had a chance to take it down the track yet. Whats your ramp on the controller set at? Do you have a bottle heater? I was thinking of purchasing the nano nitrous assist

I just left mine set at the factory settings: 2800 rpm start @ 60% with a 1 second ramp up to 100%. Shut off is 7000 rpm.
I'm thinking of changing the start rpm to 2700 or 2600 my next time at the track.

I did change my shift points from 7200 to 6900 on the SCT tuner. This allowed it to stay on the nitrous and prevent a shift lag that was happening when set at 7200 rpm. I know you have a MT, but just thought I'd let u know.

I did get a bottle heater. I don't have it hooked up to kick on/off automatically yet. I just hook it up to my battery jumper until it reaches the PSI I want.

What are your settings?

same as yours. The funny thing is the first month I had it i couldnt really tell if it worked at all on the street. If i put it in 4th gear at a low speed like 15mph, floor the gas and wait for the rpm to reach 2800, I could feel it kick in. But from first or second gear its harder to tell I have the 100 shot in there too. I figured the problem might be me not being able to maintain bottle pressure throughout the gears. So Im going to get the nano and see what happens

WIth my automatic I launch under 2000 rpm. I can definitely feel the nitrous kick in at 2800 rpm. I use the 100 shot at the track.
I don't use the nitrous much on the street as traction is at its limit with just my Bama tune. I have tried the 50 shot on the street and I can still definitely feel it kick in at 2800 rpm.

The heater definitely helps, but that Nano system looks real nice. I'm interested to see how it works out for you. Good luck.

Agreed...partially. If he could take that 2.04 60' and make it a 1.64' foot...that car potentially could run a 10.9. He's definitely got the MPH for a 10 sec pass.

I agree. I had a 2008 supercharged mustang with 4.10 gears and loose torque converter beating me with 11.5's but only at 119mph trap speeds. He crushed me off the line. There was also a 2007 supercharged Corvette running 10.9's at 125 mph. I just need to get me some shorter gears (3.73) and/or high-stall converter. Hopefully next year!
