Sterling Grey 2012's

Just got my deluxe build sheet from Ford for my 2012 sterling grey 2012 GT. Ford produced 28,012 GT's, 23,947 GT coupes, and of all those produced, only 568 are sterling greys. So if you have one of these cars, they are rare. Congratulations! I am pestering Ford now to get me the number that were produced with the accessory pkg 5 ( Hood scoop, side scoops and quarter window louvers) and 19 inch painted wheels. Yay us!

Thanks for the info. I've got one of the rare ones!
Now, how many sterling gray Brembo GTs were produced in 2012?

They are rare, Ford even took SG off the official colors for 2012 as well. But I found out they still painted some afterwards.

My understanding is that Sterling Gray Metallic was dropped for 2012, but returned on the Job 2 cars when the materials needed for Lava Red Metallic became unobtainable. I have a Mustang brochure with a color chart that shows LRM but not SGM. I have a later edition Mustang brochure that shows BOTH colors in the chart, with LRM footnoted "Limited Availability" and SGM footnoted "Late Availability."

Why they ever ditched the color is beyond me

I pretty much gave up my search for a SGM after I learned that SGM was not available for 2012. Just happened to get lucky when I viewed a local Ford dealers page and saw they had one. It was so fresh off the truck that it still had cellophane all over when I did the test drive. And yes, the SGM's were a very late production number. My car is about 26,000 of 28,000 built. Yay us!

After getting general numbers from Deysa on my car, I estimated that there are probably fewer than 50 2011 SGMs manual v6s with Premium package and 3.31 gears. I don't see too many SGM mustangs. I see a fair amount of v6s and race red seems to be the most common color I see, that and black.

Love this color, it was my second choice on the Stang after white.

Not sure why this is the the Tech section though?

I did not realize this color was so rare. I posted this awhile back as there was quite a few looking for this color as it was being done away with. The car did sell but it was there for at least 5 weeks.

I believe you can thank the japan Tsunami for the limited availability of SGM in '12.

just acquired my 13 SGM last week.

13 GT base, 3.55, Sterling Grey, MGW shifter, BMR LCA's, GT500 AB, silver RTR's, 275/40/19 Michelin pilot super sports, more stereo equipment than I will admit to, more parts to come.

Correct I have a May issued brochure with LRM and No SGM.
My LRM GT was built June 17th and was likely the last batch of Lava Red done before the color was balanced out. Lava Red GT's = 519.

Actually the Tsunami killed off LRM and Ford brought back SGM.

I can get those numbers for you, Bryonl. PM me with your VIN and the options mentioned above, so I can help.

Thanks Deysha I will PM you with the VIN. I e-mailed Ford Saturday and they called me today to give me the production numbers for the coupe accessory pkg. 5 and the painted 19 inch wheels. The pkgs could not be broken down by VIN but they said 1590 cars were built with pkg 5 and 3815 with the painted wheels. Guess I will just do the math.

You’re welcome, Bryonl. Our Research Department is correct. We only get the whole numbers, so we can only break them down by option and not specific to VINs. If you have any other packages in mind, let me know.
