Which gears to choose?

Cannot make up my mind as to which gears I should go with. I love the great 27+ HWY mpg right now but the car is slow from a 30-60 mph roll or when exiting corners. I commute about 450 miles a week /85% hwy. what do u guys suggest?
Here's the build so far
12 Gt
Auto
3.15 gears factory
Bama 91 tune
C&l CAI
O/r hpipe
Full aftermarket suspension
275 Pirelli pzero AS rear tires

Mods to come within the next week or so:
1 pc Aluminum DS
Boss intake
JLT CAI
AED tune
255 hankooks (new wheels/stance look)

Don't fear the gear. But, it's an auto and I believe the ratios in it are not as tall as the manual, so you'd probably be ok either way.

2002 C5 Z51. MCS 2WNR TT2 coilovers, 18x11 Forgestars, 315's, yada yada. Built Z06 T56. Bolt ons. Coming soon to a CAM event near you.

Blower and stuff

622 whp and 545 wtq @ 8.5psi

If I had a new car, I would not change anything. Buy an older mustang to hot rod, and keep the new car stock.

The autos have taller 1st and 2nd gears, hence the 3:15's. There are many guys with bolt on autos running deep into the 11's with 3:15's. Remember, more gear = more shifts too. If you feel you must do gears, do not do anything higher then the 3:55's.

Gears are a nice mod and you will notice a differance. If you are worried about gas milage, go with the 3:55 gear. I have had three mustangs and on the first two I added 3:73 gears. My current mustang has 3:73's. Guess what my vote is

I got the manual with 3.73 and its getting 19mpg on 6th cruising, around town is even worse but I love it. My 1st gear is not useful but the 3-5gear pulls are hard. You should be ok with 3.73 on Auto since you don't have to worry about shifting. I had the same gearing on my 07 v6 auto and didn't notice that much difference on gad mileage compare to the stock 3.31

13' Mustang GT 5.0L Grabber Blue 401a, 6spd manual, Brembo brake pkg with Boss radiator, engine oil cooler, Torsen differential & 3.73 gears. Back up camera with Navigation.
Mods - Flowmaster Outlaw, Roush front, side, rear splitter. Roush hood scoop + quarter window louvers, Barton 2 piece shifter bracket

You guys do realize he has an auto? Totally different then a manual.

As I said, do NOT do 3:73's with a auto. With that steep first gear 3:55's are better...

I have 3.73s in Ana and around town I'm averaging about 16.5mpg. That all city driving with the occasional open her up a bit to row through the gears.

My trip to Jax in Oct I was running just under 23mpg going 80-85 pretty much the whole way.

I can't complain much on that.

I have a 2011 GTCS... mine came with 3:55 right from factory and love them,a friend of mine also has a 2011 GT with 3:73,both our cars are 6 speed manual trans...
He checked mine out heading up to my cottage, and I drove his,( lol so we switched cars WITH wifes inside ) that was a game changer for him,he is installing 3:55 in his this winter.
His comments: "your 1st 2nd gears are usable compared to mine,I barely move in 1st/ and I gotta shift... he also noticed that @ 120 km/hr my engine is just around 1700 rpm, he tells me up top his seems to be reving way higher than mine (duh) lol.
My comments on his;
Useless first gear, but more potent, easier to break tires loose ( I much rather put the power to the ground than loose it to wheel spin) second gear on his scrembles to red line faster, where as mine seem way taller.
His complaint is the gas milage compared to mine, both filled up at a Shell with 91 premium... when we got there,my gauge had barely moved ( 120 km distance to my cottage) mine was right between full and the 1st quarter... his was between 1st quarter and half full.
I enjoyed driving his, felt nice, but tires need to be wider/stickier to tame wheel spin...I can easily spin mine out as well, but seem to hook up better with stock tires. His worst complaint is city driving and gas usage.
These are seat of my pants observations as we switched rides.Personally I'm very happy with the 3:55, if I had to do it again, I'd still stick with 3:55's,but that's my opinion!

2011 GTCS Candy Red;Premium leather interior package, Remote start, security package, upgraded speakers, 6MT 3:55. 35% tint all around, Borla "S" axle backs, & clear corners.
The rest is all FORD

it sounds like you are in the wrong gear when you are 'slow'. My auto with stock gears and tune is a beast at 30-60 and out of corners when on the floor

I voted for 3:55's, but I have 3:73's.

Don't get me wrong, I like my 3:73's. They're handy in 5th and especially 6th - when are we ever going to routinely top 130-170mph?

With my FRPP tune, I just bypass 1st altogether - as it starts pulling from 1200rpm on.

I'd like to get a little better than ~17 mpg, though...
