Mac Axle back with x pipe? Anyone tried it?

Here is a video of the Mac axlebacks with the resonators removed. I was just wondering if anyone has these mufflers with an o/r x pipe installed as well and if the x pipe sounds better than the factory mid with these mufflers. 2012 GT/CS 5.0 Mac Axleback No Resonators - YouTube

I don't think it will make it sound better since chambered mufflers are really made for h-pipe sound

What is that? A steady cam? It must be nice being 16 and driving that around! I'm kidding, just an old guy who's wishing he was young again.
Anyway, onto your question. The response above was much truer for the 4.6s, the x-pipe sounded crappy with chambered mufflers like MACs. I've heard x-pipes/chamber muffs on the 5.0 and they sound good but will quiet it down a little and take out some of that open exhaust sound you have from removing the resonnator if that's what you're after. A set of aftermarket 3" resonators 12" long inplace of your missing stock resonators will really tune it up nice. That's what I'd recommend with a aftermarket H-pipe for the stick shift. Your car sounds good, a bit more old school sound.

I had 3" scavenger pipe (shaped like and X) mated to a set of 3" mac flowpaths with no cats and sounded Nascar loud. It was very deep and loud. I posted a couple of vids of before and after cats. I now have the cats in and happy with the sound of Macs.

Thanks for the input. I think ill go with an o r x. If the macs dont sound good, ill change the mufflers to something better suited for the x.

I am more of an H pipe guy. I have the Roush axle backs and love the way they sound. It is my understanding that the X is more raspy and the H gives off more of that classic muscle car sound.

That setup sounds great! That's one of the best sounding 5.0s I've heard. I sold on the x pipe now since watching your video. Thanks!

It does sound pretty good. A couple of resonators would help with that carckle/pop from the ORX. Not nearly as loud as I thought it would be.
