The #8 warranty they offer if you ask me isn't so great. It only covers you from your cars original in service date, until 36,000 miles or 3 years (whatever comes first). So if you buy the tuner, and you have over 36,000 miles or a early '11 car purchased in '10 you don't even get a warranty going by what it says on their website.

Not knocking AM, as I have bought many things from them, but I would not base a tune purchase on this "warranty" they offer. Now, if it was 3 years or 36,000 miles from when the tuner was purchased, I would be sold....

See the attached image of the warranty statement from AM.

On top of that if you try or have tried any other tune even for a second, that supplemental warranty is toast.
The warranty they're offering is certainly better than nothing and their tunes are solid but I agree about not letting that warranty dictate your final decision of which tune to go with. There are other proven tunes out there that are safe that you may be missing out on.

Yeah, the warranty would mean a lot more to me if they would at least make it valid for the length of the factory powertrain warranty period since it is engine related. I am still trying to decide on what tuner to get. So far the tunes for life offer is a real selling point for me. I was really hoping for something that I could customize on my own, but as long as I can have them do it for me for me then that is a close second.

I noticed this change roughly a year ago... I fail to see how changing the rear axle ratio or the tire size/rotation per miles will drop the #8???

It is a PITA....

Personally if you have a problem with your tuner talk to them. Don't post your complaint here unless you're not getting anywhere talking to them.

Well, without going into too much detail, it took four tries to get my speedo fixed. The whole process was stupid, ridiculous, and unnecessary, and involved a phone call that pissed me off so much I very nearly stopped being a customer of Bama / AM altogether.

But it's fixed now, so that's all that needs saying.

I support removing features that may affect warranty and have adverse performance but removing all parameters is and should not be acceptable. The SCT is a tuner, it is just being hijacked and ruined by them taking everything out. You shouldn't buy any tuner from them unless it's an unmolested SCT without their own advertising/tweaking. You can always get tunes elsewhere. I would be pretty pissed off over that.

It is better to remain silent and be thought of a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
