Question What us the best manual fluid as of today...changes frequently

Going to change fluid. What to use as it changes so much I need the current info. What is the best fluid redline MTL or a Royal purple or Amsoil type? Also should still put the Ford XL-18 additive in?

Thanks.

QDC and XL-18 if you do not want to mess with any "possible" warranty issues.

Not all. Mine was built before 7/9/2012, which Dyesa confirmed that is when Ford began adding xl-18 to the fluid. But if I replace the oem fluid with one of the better aftermarket fluids, do I still need to add it? Will it help and is it still recommended? Regardless if it came with it or not, it will be drained out when i do the fluid change. Just time for a fluid change and taking opportunity to upgrade fluid.

Thanks.

So does that cover a 13 built in early 12?
Either way, still rather go with a better aftermarket fluid.
Good info though.

I'm going with Amsoil next spring. I haven't driven the car since september and it was never below 50 degrees. I have a 2014 and it's notchy from 1-2, 2-3 and sometimes 3-4. Oh and it also pops out / grinds hard when going slow and trying to put it down into first. I'm not expecting miracles but I hope the better fluid will help the notchiness somewhat. In my opinion, if you have to add friction modifier to a fluid, it's not the right fluid.

Here's how I did it, with pics....

https://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...-did-pics.html

If I had to do it again maybe I'd try the Ford fluid...... MTL or any of the others should be just fine also...

Grabber Blue 2012 GT Mustang, 6 spd manual, basic model 300A, no options, charcoal black interior. On order 04/21/11. VIN received 05/26/11. Build date 06/08/11, delivered to dealer 06/21/11. Picked up 6/29 after black stripes installed by dealer. Roush axle backs installed.... Added OEM strut tower brace..... On the road......!

Motorcraft® Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid is the best for the MT82 >>>>>> .

Put all of that other stuff in there and when you go in for warranty

I don't speak often but when I do, I don't have clue what I am talking about. I just repeat things that I once heard and do not repeat them correctly... My doctor told me it was an ID 10 T problem and it was incurable.
So when I reply to a post or add to a thread I just find the words elsewhere and copy and paste.

The best thing for the mt-82 is to pull it out , replace it with a tremec magnum xl or an auto. your wasting your time try to get it to do what its suppose to!

I recently switched from stock fluid in my 2011 to RP Synchromax and drove about 300 miles on it, so far so good and shift's are smooth. Well, with my stock fluid everything was smooth as well...

Transmission whine is still there, no change at all. Funny thing is it whines, but at the same time it operates smoothly without any issues.

Thanks for the comments. I decided to have Ford do a fluid change and add the xl-18. It doesn't have it in there since it's an early 2012 build date. I can keep my warranty. And at 20 miles I think it smart to get the initial fluid out.

Thanks again.

20 miles . I'd stick with the QDC and XL-18.
