black helicoptors out.

My theory is the torqe of you car has twisted/bent the main shaft just every so slightly causing the wine, next syncros go out from being just a little off center. Next rebuild that don't last 100 miles or new and good to go until the main shaft is twisted/bent again after so many heat cylces/ hard runs

The ford dealer gives you a hyundai? The hell...?

I took mine back to the dealer yesterday for the continued tranny whine. They had it a month the first time let's see how long it is this time.

There is no way to "bench test a transmission" outside the vehicle, and the cost of part and replacement usually delays the determination by the dealer and Ford regional service managers to "make the call". Since there is no TSB for the MT82, it will take time to make "that call". Would still negotiate hard for a new (not rebuilt) one from Ford with a 2013/14 date code, if it is determined to be any failing part within the transmission. Especially if this is the 2nd time around for the same vehicle. Frustration must be extreme. Sorry to hear all that. At least Deysha is expediting the part to push the process along. At this point, I am "glad" that my whine problem was the rear end / pinion bearing. EZer to diagnose and fix, less cost, time... and it seems to be holding so far (not too many miles on it just yet after the fix).

Picked it up last night from the dealer. They say what I hear is normal gear whine from the gears meshing in the tranny. It sounds like I've got a freaking Whipple under the hood. I guess I'll drive it and hope it last. Good luck to the rest of you.

Can't bring my car in until April 1st since my dealers transmission guy is going on vacation next week unfortunately.

My dad does warranty inspections at car dealers all around Orlando, he spoke to a transmission specialist and told him my issues, right away he said "input shaft bearing." Said the job is a pain in the ass to do since there are special tools needed from Ford to pull everything apart. Takes about 3-4 hours just to get the entire thing apart apparently.

We'll see what happens.

deysha - thank you for the expedited part - the dealer says thank you as well

Update: Rear pinion gear and bearings in the rear end all replaced. the transmission still makes the whining sound. I just test drove it myself. Left it at the dealer.

Does anyone here think that the UPR Oil Catch can can make that sound? I am taking the oem tube to the dealer tomorrow just to test it out. but i would be really surprised.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but what short shifter do you have? It could be NVH

They had it for a month last time, and 4 days THIS time, and say that it's normal gear whine from the transmission? I don't believe this. If it's so "normal" ask to drive a brand new 2013/14 GT with 34 original miles on it, listen for the whine with the tech, then get back into your ride, and do the same thing, on the same road. Listen to the sound it makes and compare with the service technicians sitting right next to you. Then, have it escalated, and take it to a different dealership.

I drove a gt with 5 miles on it while i was there and it had no whine. They told me i didn't drive it properly. Whatever that means. I took it to a different dealership and they said same thing normal gear whine from the mesh in the gears. Funny how gears 1 thru 4 do it but not 5 and 6. I am scared to do intake exhaust now but can't get anything out of Ford.
