I have an early build 2014 gt base track pack . The car runs and shifts great with 11,000 miles . I store it from November thru April. The only time I notice this clicking is with the clutch pedal depressed coasting to a stop sign , light etc. Its not very loud so if their is a lot backround noise I don't notice it. IT is rpm related ,as the car slows down so does the clicking. Ill inform my dealer about this in the spring for my third oil change. Just wondering if this is normal or not. Been doing it as long as I can remember, and is not getting any worse or better. Just click.. click...click.... click..... not the one time click you get from the pedal itself. sounds like its coming from underneath the car. Thanks to all for great forum.
yup i have it. idk what it is. Sounds like a rock in a tire but its not.
Im thinking its the driveshaft or sway bars. Otherwise its the gears inside the diff
EDIT: ive also jacked it up by the axle and spun the tires. I didnt hear any clicking. It might actually be from the front of the car. i cant tell from the inside of the car.
Sometimes a small rock or pebble will get caught between the brake rotor and the splash shield. This can cause anything from a clicking sound such as you mentioned to a squealing noise. Not saying that this is your problem, but it's worth checking. If it is a rock you can usually pry it out with a screwdriver without having to take the brakes apart. Good luck.
Just took a look. I knew it wasnt gunna be a rock, also theres like 1/2 inch to 3/4 inches between the sheild and rotor. Not really seeing how something would get stuck in there.
I stated above that i didnt hear the noise when i jacked the rear up and spun the tires. Im thinking it is in the front but it does sound like its under the car. Not like and upper strut mount or motor type thing.
Mine did it the day i bought it and still does it even after all my mods. I have 1600 miles on it.
Must be the black cars only as mine is black as well . I think is drive line related also . My dealership here in Detroit has a good guy as drive line specialist . He fixed my howling diff the first try. My darn car is in storage at my cottage till spring though.
Does it click when you do the same coasting with car in neutral versus having the clutch pedal depressed while coasting to a stop? If it is clutch pedal depression related, it won't be any of the other suggested tidbits. Does the clutch "chatter" when in neutral (foot off clutch pedal) like some performance clutches do? Try your previous test and coast to a stop while putting the clutch pedal down, then up again, a few times to see when/if the noise is present. Could be a broken spring
Noise; clicking or rattling at idle RPM with the pedal released
Alright so i just tested what you said. I threw it in nuetral and let off the clutch. NOISE STILL THERE, there was no difference. I pushed the clutch in and out with absolutly no change in the noise.
Im thinking its somthing like a front end bushing for somthing. Ive pretty much changed the whole rear suspension besides the UCA and Mount (which is next) and the sway bar.
Blackpenguin69 , thanks for all the effort . All this eases my mind some that it's nothing serious.I'll still mention it to dealer when the time comes. I want to get rid of these stock mufflers lol.
i mainly want to know why my car does it to. So i hijacked your thread basically.
I tried pushing on the brake during the coast a little bit harder. Which gives me little time to notice it since im already going under 10 mph. But when i push on in harder im not hearing the noise. Not sure if its becuase im stopping to quick or what. OH WELL
Maybe it had something to do with the carrier bearing? By the way did you notice any slop at the carrier bearing like another person on this forum was experiencing and the dealer said it what normal? I would check my oem driveshaft but it is buried in the garage right now.
If your talking about the middle joint that bolts to the body, no slop. Just rubber bushings that could move if i push hard.
