I have not heard of this one....good luck. I know some dealers have data recorders they can hook up to your vehicle to help find intermittent problems but I wonder if they have any over there for you. How often does it do it and under what circumstances?

Not that I'll have a clue but I'll try to learn

I had the same problem with a Caddy my wife had many years ago. Turned out to be a bad computer. Have the dealer check the ECU if he has not done so. Lots of luck.

Throttle position sensor error or like others suspect the ECU module. Make sure the floormat isn't near the accelerator pedal as well. If it shifts over, might be touching it every so often. A good dealership should be able to find it quickly if it is reproducible at will and you should still be under warranty.

I have no idea what liability laws are like in Germany, but I would think that given what this type of problem cost Toyota in the USA that your dealer would want to do everything possible to fix this problem for you. Frankly I am somewhat amazed that there aren't more problems like this since just about every manufacturer now uses some form of "fly by wire" throttle control. No need to apologize for your English, lots of Americans aren't all that expert at it either.

thanks for your answers.

i took out the floormats.
sometimes he does it ones or twice a month .

after i took it to the dealership (they update the ecu software)
it doesnt do it for a week.

than the sun was shining and i took it out for a ride and clean it up.
i drove on the highway and after i leave the highwy (at 50km/h he does it again 6000rpm without touching the pedal)

the first and second time he does it was after i used the cruiscontrol.

but the last time after the update he does it without using the cruisecontrol.

i remember that ford has the cruiscontrol problem in the 2003 model.

i told my dealership, but they cant find anything.

may anyone can ask a dealership in the states maybe thay can give me any informations.

regards roland

Accelerating to 6000 RPM without touching the pedal sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I know I see a lot of threads where Deysha, the site Ford rep helps get people in touch with the right folks at Ford to figure things out. Considering the safety implications of this one, maybe she could chime in.

Hi Roland,

I don't know how good your "dealership" is, but you might want to contact Geiger cars in Munchen.

Kind of strange your dealer lets you drive of with an 420HP car with a mind of its own.

Stay safe.

so fare thanks for answering.
i contect Deysha and waiting for an answer.

She'll refer you (hopefully) to the customer care rep in Germany. I will say the intermittent problems are real hard to find even if your dealer cares.
Hello ROLAND12031982,

Welcome and thank you for the PM. As Strange Mud mentioned, since you’re in Germany, I recommend calling the Germany Customer Relationship Center at +49 (0) 221 903 3333 for assistance.

Also, I know we’ve made arrangements with the Overseas Military Sales Corporation (OMSC) to assist with service-related issues. OMSC can help you find a participating service center, which should be able to assist you with the key. Please contact them at 1-800-669-6183 or 9-011-49-6173-704-256. I hope this helps.
