axle back muffler

Hi guys, my name is Alberto and im really happy to be part of this mustang group! I been reading a lot of posts and opinions and all i can say is very helpful. My question for you guys, I have a 2014 gt convertiable and i was thinking of changing my mufflers, just the axle back and im not sure if i want to go s-type borla or flowmaster 44 or roush, my mine concern is i dont want to much drome while driving the car, but i do want to hear that v8 when you open her up, any help or info would be great.

Based on your description I would recommend GT500 axlebacks. They are relatively inexpensive ($150-400 depending on used vs new) and sound great. There is no drone either.

It also depends on your budget. If money is no issue then there are options like Borla S-type ($1000 CAD after shipping and taxes)

+1 on the GT500 Axle backs. No Drone. Deeper Sound than stock.

Another option if the gt500's do not give you enough sound is muffler bypass. This will give you basically wide open sound at WOT, but give you zero drone and fairly tame down low. Best of all its basically a free mod. PM if you interested in knowing the details. Good luck either way.

Magnaflow street is also a good option if you can get a good discount or a used set. Had GT500's before and wasn't satisfied. Both Magnaflow and Borla are way overpriced for just an axleback.

Id vote for the Roush dual chamber tip AB and keep the stock resonators.

IMO its a great sounding exhaust note for a convertible, especially with the top down.

Corsa Xtremes!!! I have ZERO drone and are well worth the money. They are pricey but sound ridiculously nice.

I was looking at the GT500 & the Magnaflow's as well. I've been leaning towards the GT500's but maybe I need to take a closer look at the Magnaflow's.

I put the GT500's on mine 2 weeks ago. They are a little louder at start up. Its been raining and wintery weather most of the time since I put them on so I haven't gotten to play very much but what little I have they are just a little louder while cruising around town but when I stand on it, it sounds sweeeeeeeeet!:bigthumbsup
No drone.

gt500's and resonator delete will be plenty loud for you! All while staying cheap and drone free.

Even with headers on mine, the GT500's do not drone at all!

Hey OP, if you post up a budget we can probably be of more help in this regard. As you can see the answers have varied quite a bit so far ;)

I went through the same internal debate and did a lot of research including listening to sound-clips. I ended up going with the Steeda axle-backs.... love the sound and no drone at highway speeds.

I had a Sateen PJ & the exhaust had an ear deafening drone at cruising speed, I definitely don't want that in my Laguna Seca. I was looking at the Kooks side pipes for the Boss as well. Anyone have experience with those?
