Cat to axle components.

I already have a Flowmaster axle back bolted to my stock exhaust. I want to upgrade the rest of the exhaust up to the cats. Anyone got any advice on this? I know there are aftermarket x pipes and h pipes. But I can't find any options for the stock h to the axle without buying a complete cat back.

Thanks for any help you all can give me.

Damn! $350 for 2 pipes?! That's nuts! How much difference is there realistically between this and just removing the resonators?

I think I'll just go to a muffler shop and have them remove the resonators. I can't justify that expense for no real gain.

I have the borla over axle pipes I believe I got for about $330 on sale from Maryland Speed. The car got pretty loud even with the Kooks catted H pipe and the GT500 axle backs. Loud enough that I am thinking that if I put my Kooks catless pipes on that the car might be too loud like open header loud.

Another option would be to find some used Gt500 over axle pipes as they do not have resonators.

Probably since people decided they needed stainless steel exhaust pipes. Aluminized steel is significantly cheaper and still looks good for a long time.

Anyone know if there is any difference in sound or performance between the GT500 over axle pipes and the GT pipes with resonators removed? Seems to me that the best bet is to just cut out the resonators after seeing what the pipes cost. I'm not going to be boosting for quite a while if ever so any power mods will be basic bolt ons and tuning. I'm going to concentrate more on handling and getting the MGW race spec shifter first.
I just wanted a better sounding exhaust in the mean time. I like my American Thunder axle back but I want a bit more.

If you want to remove the resonators just have them cut out and replaced with a short section of pipe.

Yes I know that. I'm asking if there is a benefit in going with the GT 500 pipes over just removing the resonators.

I don't believe there would be a performance benefit of the GT500 axle backs vs cutting out the resonators as long as you splice in the 2.75" diameter pipe. The aftermarket over axles may have slight increase in performance if the bends are less restrictive.
