I've been reading a lot of comments on here where Mustang owners mention that they have experienced a dramatic decrease in mpg after their oils was changed. I did some research on this, and here's my opinion on what's going on.

Oil life monitor and MPG are two separate functions that are reset independently of each other. If the MPG was reset too then it's possible they disconnected the battery or flashed/reset the ECM for some reason.

Or, the tech just accidentally reset the MPG before resetting the oil life.

Or, somebody bumped the reset button with their knee. I've done that one too.

Or, who knows what else...

The oil would have to be waaaay thicker to make any noticeable difference in MPGs. How you drive, temps and humidity, tires and pressures, proper maintenance, etc......all these things have real effects on MPGs.

Anyways, this is a total non-issue. I've never seen a thread on this topic, or had anyone bring it up in discussion.
