Turbo mufflers

What has happened that no one wants to put Turbo mufflers on their car anymore? Do people not like the way they sound? Back in the old days, (The 80's) that was the muffler/exaust system of choice. Are the stock Ford mufflers that come on our GT's a turbo design? Just wondering. MM.

Yes the OE mufflers are similar to "Turbo mufflers",

If your wanting something with a a deeper tone , the 2011-12 GT500 muffler is a little different and can be found fairly cheap,, it uses three chambers and a couple perforated cores running between them. They sound pretty good on a GT.

"Turbo" mufflers are restrictive, drone and blow their packing out, generally. Chambered mufflers offer lower restriction and are much more durable. This is why they make up the majority today.

In my opinion, the Thrush turbos sound the best!

The welded muffler is a chambered system like the flowmaster, Turbos are a different flow design.

You may be right, they sounded so much like crap I threw them over the wall without even inspecting the design. They were so bad I put stock ones on until my 500s turned up.
