The coyote can take a pretty surprising level of advance before getting upset. That's the miracle of modern engine management. If you can hear anything, something's seriously wrong. I ran the Procal for 3 year to 11 sec 1/4s at the track without issues. No signs of ping or anything. I could occasionally hear a touch right around 4k, which is common on coyotes. The engine made maximum allowable compression after three years and over 100 passes at the strip.
