Dashcam/radar wiring help

I have seen this addressed on other cars but it seems like everyone's situation is different and I'm a novice at electronics. Am trying to hardwire my dashcam and Escort radar detector and hoping someone here might know the answer.

Parts I have available:
Long usb cord (camera power)
Long telephone cable (escort radar detector power)
Add a circuit and fuses
Female cigarette lighter plug

I was attempting to splice the telephone cable and usb cord together so that they would both plug into the 12v to 5v adapter that came with the camera. The usb cable has a red (hot) and black wire inside (ground) The telephone wire has green, red, black and yellow wires inside. Research suggests that the red/green wires are the hot and ground. I tried every combination of wiring the red/green telephone wire to the red/black usb wires with no success. I'm not worried about the "smart plug" capabilities of the stock escort wire, but maybe I am over simplifying by just using a regular phone cable. Any ideas?

The phone cord on the radar detector is 12V not 5V, so it should go directly into the fusebox through the add-a-circuit rather than spliced together with the USB 5V.

I have the same setup on mine except with a V1. The V1 direct phone wire goes directly to the passenger side fusebox through an add-a-circuit. The dashcam goes through the long usb cord to the 5V side of the adapter, then the 12V side of the adapter goes to the fusebox through another add-a-circuit.

Instead of using fuses that are powered only when the car is on, I used always live fuses, but added a switch inline to each wire which I mounted under the steering column so I can control what devices are on at any time (and discreetly kill the V1 if I see a cop behind me).
