Exhaust

Good morning!

I pulled the trigger on a new to me 2014 GT. Numerous mods already done, including long tube headers, JLT cold air intake, catted H pipe, ford racing mufflers, and an SCT tuner.

I find myself missing the sound on my 07 GT, with plain ol flowmaster 40 series mufflers.

Thoughts from the group? Thinking of trying the find something like that for this one.

14 GT, 3:73 gears, Brembo brakes, BBK long tube headers, catted H pipe, Ford Racing axle back exhaust, JLT cold air intake, SCT X4 tuner, Hurst short-throw.... There's little left to desire in the naturally aspirated world!

Many people say the 4.6 sound was much better than the 5.0. You might have a hard time tying to duplicating what your looking for. I think the ford racing ab's have a great sound.

The firing order of the cylinders on the Coyote engine, is what gives it the different exhaust tone from other V8's.But I still love it. LOL

My old school '93 5.0 sounded like a movie sound track V8. Those old 5.0s with flowmasters are some of the best sounding motors on the planet. My 2014 sounds decent and I like it ... it's just not as good.

2014 GT 6-spd, Boss 302 takeoff suspension w/3.73 LSD, Brembos, Boss wheels, Moroso Road Race oil pan, Boss gauge cluster, Boss splitter, FR rear spoiler, Boss quad exhaust, JLT Oil Separator, K&N, Steeda Jack Rails, Sound tube delete, Black 5.0 badges.

Having owned a 4.6 then a 5.0 then back to the 4.6 I know personally you will never get the 5.0 to sound like the 4.6. The motors and all are just too different.

I first ran muffler delete on the 5.0 right when I got it. Droned so bad and was so loud combined with the drone it literally would make my head hurt and I would feel sick when long distance HWY driving. So I changed out for something much quieter and mellow and ended up with the magnaflow. I will say I went to far the other way as the magnaflow was to quiet and mellow from what I was used to on the 4.6. Great exhaust note and sound just to quiet.

Not trying to talk you out of the mangflows posted above just providing some feedback since I had them on my 2011 5.0.

As others said, you will never get a coyote to sound like a 4.6.
You are much better off just getting an exhaust that is known to sound good on the coyote. These cars can be picky with drone and rasp, especially once you open the exhaust up with headers and no cats.

It's hard to go wrong with corsa or borla, but i'd stay away from their most extreme offerings if you're going to do/have done further exhaust mods.

This is very true........I've had 7 different muffler types on my car and most are terribly raspy and LOUD with the other mods I have!!

I currently have KOOK's axle-backs on it and they sound perfect!!

If you plan on Race Cats or No Cats and removed resonators get ready for CRAZY LOUD.....just saying!!

Not to steal the thread, but I am in the same boat. I just finished up an install of long tubes and O/R x-pipe and I still have my Roush axle backs. I need to do different mufflers, so I am thinking about GT500's or trying the stock mufflers.

On GrbrBlu's mustang it would do the trick he is looking for.

Just out of curiosity how much are you wanting for your set? I will check around and see if anybody I know wants them as they look in almost new condition. Are these specially for the Mustang? Do they bolt on or weld on? I know Mangaflow also makes generic mufflers is why I ask. You are relatively close by so that would work for pick up over shipping if I know somebody that wants them.
