I see you have standard seats not premium. I didn't know heated seats were available non premium. Perhaps the heated was added after market. Did you purchase your ride new?
I had that option on both of my 2014's, but I didn't have that problem. I did have the heated driver's seat repaired because in didn't get warm enough (it was defective and tested out bad) when I first got the car below.
Not thinking it was available for a base GT in any regard except aftermarket. If you bought it new it is likely this was added by the selling dealer at point of sale. If so they will have record of it, I would call the company that installed it if so.
Personally I have dealt with a lot of these type companies over the years (dealer point of sale aftermarket seat, seat heater, b/u cam, audio, nav, etc), and most all of them will in fact stand behind their stuff for the life of the car. Who knows.. maybe add a bit more and get leather if you want it as they will be doing 1 seat either way, and fixing the heater.
1st one I've seen.....I would consider make a report to ntsa? I can see that causing a fire and if it is widespread (doubtful tho) it's a legit safety item. Also contact Ford customer service...guessing past 3/36 wtty but this is unique enough they may comp repair if they like you.
gotta ask May and you were running heated seats/wearing a jacket...where are you?
Although stuff like this stinks at least you got a good story out of it.
My seat heaters suck so bad I can barely feel them working when wearing a jacket. My wife's Miata are so strong I can't take setting higher than 2 of 5 without getting to hot.
