I'm really hoping someone has encountered this before cause I'm stumped. I recently replaced my steeda shifter with a stock one and a blowfish bracket and am having issues. When I'm driving and get up to 5th or 6th, I noticed when I slow back down and need to get into 2nd or 1st, the shifter is VERY stiff when you try to push it over to the left side of the gate. I generally have to wobble it around a handful of times and then it loosens up and acts like normal. I also think I found a shortcut yesterday, which is that if I pop the shifter down (as you do when you're going into reverse) and let go, it loosens up right away.
Very strange. Just out of curiosity, why did you go from Steeda to a stock? I would think the other way around. I am hearing a lot of good things about the MGW shifter, as I am getting my installed next week. Maybe consider that? Just my .02.
Good question, while I liked the short throw of the steeda, I was still encountering gear lockout (mostly going to 5th) under load, which was driving me nuts. If I can't get this issue fixed with the stock shifter+blowfish combo, MGW will be my next step.
It sounds like an adjustment issue, I had to move the upper bracket slots around the lower slots on the blowfish slightly twice to get it where it was shifting properly and quietly when I did mine last year.
No issues or missed shifts since.
Could be just a bad install. Always a risk. Good luck.
